same ol bs... the socialists ask for all kind of government intervention in our lives "for our own good" figuring that there guy will do it according to their belief system of what is right and wrong and then... their guy loses and the new guy has all that power they just handed over to the government but...

the new guy doesn't think at all like one of the annointed who they gave the power to originaly.

You know you're in America when they find the "F" word more offensive than the depiction of someone being shot in the head.

You know you're in America when clips of kidnapped people begging for their lives are shown on network tv, but "Saving Private Ryan" isn't.

"Traditional values" breed insanity (and causes warts).

It is a Stephen Spielberg movie. Think about that. One of the most mainstream directors ever.

If they can't show his movies then think of all the other things that will never get shown on TV again.

It really is a sad time now in the US. The politically correct moral majority have really changed things for the worse. Big time.

God bless Colon Powell's son and the FCC. They are protecting us from ourselves. I can hardly wait to run home and watch Heidi tonight on TV.

even with the warnings, it should not be shown on the public airwaves:

"Rated R for intense prolonged realistically graphic sequences of war violence, and for language."

anything for ratings I guess...

what about the "n" word... what about the KKK having a network show or the aryan brotherhood?   You want censorship when it is the "right kind" of censorship (PC) and bow to those weak minded liberals who pass out when they hear the "N" word but don't allow for the weakest link on the other side of things.

you ask for censorship and get it.... when someone from the other side gets ahold of the reigns then the censorship is bad?

censorship in this case has exactly the same purpose and uses the same tools... the purpose is to keep from offending some people... the tool is big brother and the giving up of your rights.

either put up with changing life limitations based on who is in power or quit being such a friggin socialist and asking for government, any governmment to solve your problems.

When klinton was in there were tons of aholes lined up to get him to restrict the freedoms of "those people".   Now the power is interpreted by a different regiem.

Can't have PC and still expect to watch Saving Private Ryan.   can't hear the N word or see Ryan unless you cut the government out of the equation.

soooo like I said... put your copy in the dvd player or go rent or buy a copy or tune to one of the cable stations playing it.

quit your whinin... sound like that baby stern.

No, the FCC refuses to say anything about it.  They are simply going to let it happen, and then if they get complaints they are going to investigate them, which may result in fines for the stations.

that is the way that government intervention works.   It is open to interpretation.  I deal with environmentalists all the time... the EPA..  they have arbitrary standards that are impossible to meet.   when asked for direction on how to meet them they say... come up with a plan and if we like it you will be OK... If we don't then you will be fined.   We can't give you guidance because we are not here to solve your problems.

 Yep, I stand corrected
So nothings been censored yet, it seems like a network decision, not a FCC one

I'd bet a month's salary if Foxnews Channel could do it and get away with it, they'd be first in line. I can see it now...

Government should not be involved in censoring content on the airways.  The stations should be free to use their own judgement because the will of the viewing public will shape just how 'crazy' they can get.  A hard core pornography channel will never make as much advertising money as a family friendly one, so it'll regulate itself better then any artificial rules imposed by the FCC.
