Like I said, humour doesn't travel. Morecambe and Wise were one of the most popular and successful double acts in the history of British comedy.

Hehe, I don't post much in GD any more. Like you say, there's not much point. It wasn't the game I gave up on - the game is brilliant - it was the gameplay  - and whining pansies who have to have every game feature tuned exactly to their personal preference (and who waaaaahed about ENY), else they'll go whining to HTC on the BBS. Just look at you in that other thread. BGB/Greencloud was right. You went there in CHogs with about five wingmen and you went there to vulch. But even then the situation wasn't easy enough for you. I have cleared a field of its ack single handed in a CHog, but seems you couldn't do it with your five wingmen. Don't wanna get your wing taken off by manned ack? Easy solution: Don't vulch. BGB was right about that too. I've got film of you vulching, and film of you landing your 9 kills in a 109G2 - along with your 5 wingmen!

Enjoy your fun. I liked arcade games when I was your age.

Lol Furious exactly.

Unless carriers are made much harder then the last thing we need are boxes of TBMs upping from carriers.

Tho, Morph is right, on one hand it would be fun, the overall affect to the carrier game would be bad.

Right now the life expectancy of a carrier is not long add boxes of TBMs and it will get even shorter.

hmmm lol.

Beetle you prove me right about my view of who you are with each stroke of the key. Your a fool, an assuming fool at that.

You left the game because you chose to.

And FYI, the field was cleared of ack by the few that could see it. What? You want me to tell you that I dont vulch so you can say I do? Who hasn't? Dont say you because I've seen you do it yourself. Idiot...

You see the game, nor the people who play it aren't the problem here. Or weren't should I say.... In your case. It was  you and you alone that forced you to leave. Your views and your ideas of what AH should be... You continue to miss out on the one simple fact of AH. The fact is that it is and always will be just a game. Its not a simulation of any sort. Sure, the planes are WW2 planes and the GVs are WW2 GVs... We are flying WW2 era stuff in a game setting. Its all a game, and until you can grasp that one simple fact, there is no place for you here. I'm not saying that because I dont like you. Lord knows I dont... I'm saying that because thats the way it is. If you look at the game, Aces High the way you do... You'll never have fun. You'll never enjoy it to its fullest. Rather than sitting back, enjoying, doing your own thing and letting others do theirs... You criticized all in the game who didnt play the way you saw fit. You ran your foolish polls... In order to accomplish what? Nothing... In the end, the only person who lost anything was you.

I doubt very much you've seen any of the people you criticize play the game. You assume they play the entire game the way that you see them in a few short moments. You've never flown with half of the people you talk watermelon to and talk down to... I know this for a fact because I know who you talk down to.

I'm not going to try and tell you how we fly or where we fight and how we fight. You wouldnt be able to understand a word of what I would say to you in the first place. Your too blind sided by the fact that you, think your always right... And that your opinions on a person or a certain facit of the game, is never wrong... I'd tell you where to stick both, but again there is no use. You only see what you want, and in the end... You'll be the fool you always were.

The people who took part in the other thread you mentioned knew right from the start what I was talking about. And what they were asking wasn't a cry to taylor the game in a way they saw fit. But again, you dont read, you assume, and in the end, your wrong.

Well Morph - I'm flattered by the length of your reply. :D Some of what you say is actually true. But I'll clarify my position.

As you probably know, I came from WB not AW. Most people thought of WB as a sim more than a game. The folks in it were enthusiasts (as they had to be to pay $2/hour) and we didn't get many gamey types of the sort who are prepared to part with only 50 cents a day. Name of the game was field capture. Sure, we did "air to air only" if there was only a relative handful present. People just joined up naturally and worked together. None of the "it's *MY* $2/hour" selfishness that you see in here. That was new to me when I came here.

I WAS in a squad in my early AH days, but they were mainly buffers. And they all got fed up and left. A couple stayed on and joined other squads, and I stayed on because I have faith in the AH product and the people developing it. You said "The fact is that it is and always will be just a game. Its not a simulation of any sort." and I don't quite agree. We have been promised TOD! And TOD will be more of a sim than a game, as I understand it. (Don't worry, there'll still be AH2 Classic, so you'll still be able to do your vulchfests with your ten wingmen, and pat yourselves on the back afterwards :lol ) I almost quit in Dec.2002 when TOD didn't show up in 1.11, and was again disappointed to learn that it wasn't going to be a part of AH2. I was sort of hanging on for it. And I will come back for it. But there's a limit to the amount of fun one can have, chasing Spits and LA7s before it begins to pall.

The problems for me right now are amply described by Slapshot in recent threads. The hordes, and the crap gameplay. I personally believe that the small maps are a horde's paradise, whereas larger maps like Pizza didn't see anything like the amount of hording. At one point, even Slapshot said he would welcome Pizza as a means of relief from the hordes - the same reason I looked forward to pizza. But the small maps stayed and so the hordes continued, and Slapshot announced that he'd cut his game time to the lowest level in three years. It's worth noting that this coincides with a period in which we had only the small maps, and things got so bad that HTC had to introduce the ENY balancing act. So don't try to say that the problems are all mine. As Slap put it, about a third of the ENY whiners had to make a sacrifice - but only so that the other two thirds could have a decent game.  I mention Slap because his views on the horde/gameplay situation mirror mine, and because you probably know him in RL.

Hehe, I think I've got you all steamed up! :lol So go and take a happy pill or something, and come back refreshed!

If you lose all the planes in a formation, doesn't it count as 3 deaths? On the flipside, if you landed the formation , does it show 3 sorties.

was wonderin about this a while back when I seen what I thought was an extra number of bomber sorties I did. (course it could be that I did some buff flyin after happy hour and miscounted ;)   )
I used to be a fatalist,
but that part of me died.

Beetle sir, you missed the point.

You quoted MY reply, had your minor attempt at humor,  and stuck morphs name in there.

Why Quote me, then attibute my words to morph? Why bring Morph into a reply with my post at all? Other than you see yourself as having a verbal duel with him. And you don't mind slapping mud at anyone else as long as some gets on Morph.

 >>>They're right you know. Humour doesn't travel well, and even the spelling gets corrupted! You missed my meaning completely.>>>

Well yeah, it was a pretty convoluted attempt at humor no doubt.

>>>>Anyway, one of their lines, when a question asked to one person was answered by someone else was "you said that without moving your lips!". My comment was addressed to Morph, but you answered it - hence my response. Get it now?>>>>

If you were aiming at morph, why did you quote MY words?  Why mix it up?
Why not pick one of HIS posts & do it?

From my point of view you read my post, had your attempt at humor (sorry still not funny) then preceded to mix me up with Morph.

Sorry Morph, no insult intended,  but not funny at ALL here.

Hence MY reply.

As to what they "all" say, I could care less. However judging by streetstangs & TC's reaction I'd say I'm still on the right track.

Beetle you used to make for some interesting reading. But now its like a bad day of hunting. Lots of wading through slime,  a worn out trail,  and nothing to show for it.

Pony up the 15 $ a month and  play AH or get out of the slough!

Humour exported is bad enough, but worst when it has to be explained.

You really don't get the Morecambe and Wise thing. Perhaps you should try Benny Hill instead. :p

It goes like this: Morecambe says "you said that without moving your lips". Clue: He's using sarcasm! He's deriding the person who actually answered by ignoring him and pretending he thought that the person he asked had answered without moving his lips.

I know a good Tommy Cooper joke - one I told to some friends in New York, including an English guy - who then had to spend 5 minutes explaining it to his American wife. :lol It was the one about him finding a Stradivarius and a Rembrandt in the attic... but don't ask me to explain it - I haven't got the energy tonight.

OK here's a Tommy Cooper one-liner. TC: I put a pound on a horse at twenty to one, and it came in - at twenty past four... :D

Don't worry beet1e, I got it the first time, and appreciated it.

Remember that they are from the US and don't do subtle, sarcastic, or ironic particularly well.

Imagine how horribly a good sarcastic Stephen Fry monologue would go in the US. Doesn't bear thinking about.

I think you'll just confuse them more by explaining it.

PS - Flame proof suit on. Have some fun lads. :)

"When one considers just what they should say to a new pilot who is logging in Aces High, the mind becomes confused in the complex maze of info it is necessary for the new player to know. All of it is important; most of it vital; and all of it just too much for one brain to absorb in 1-2 lessons" TC

actually there is a reason that I ask... I like to use torpedoes a lot.  The only airborne torpedo platform that can sink a CV (in the MA) in one go is the Ju88s.  Ki67s differ in that it can offer more survivability due to its speed (but it actually does not because we do not have Japanese torpedoes available yet, we have German specs on the torps for the Ki67s and have to slow down considerably to launch).  The TBMs are a torpedo platform but because of the lack of formation, it only offers one torpedo in one go.  If the TBM offers a formation, it can launch three in one go.  I am not sure of what the call would be for the B5N though.

Of course, I do not think this is high priority but... well... there was talk about it before.  I was just wondering that the status was for this.

FDutchman - yep, I'm sorry about what's been done to your thread. I posted a little dig at Morpheus, which I assumed would merit a one line reply or no reply, but the whole thing got out of hand.
