Some of ya'll may remember the discussion of the movie on here when it came out last June. One of the things I couldn't figure out was how someone could take a potentially lucrid idea and trash it. Well, with the "Introductory commentary" on the DVD I've figured it out. When you put two no talent egos the size of Diesel's and Twohy's in the same room, you can screw up anything.
The "Director's cut" adds, deletes, and even replaces entire scenes from the theatrical release. While it explains a few things (the cuff Diesel puts on when leaving U.V. 6) it adds a lot of confusing scenes. Flashbacks, "Visions", etc.
I was hoping the saving grace of the DVD would be the special effects and behind the scenes. Alas, those are quite bare and the few included are sophomoric attempts at best.
The one thing I haven't tried yet is watching it with the director and actors commentary turned on. I'm thinking that's going to wait until one night when I'm bored, have lots of spare time, and alchohol.
p.s. Suncoast didn't have Dark Blue World either, so I'm going to order it online.
