I know, can you rig the GV to explode or something if the film viewer starts up?  Can ya?  Or maybe a siren that gives away his position?  OOh OOh, I know!  Smoke pots!  Bright colored smoke that goes off above the tank if he activates the film viewer!!  Kinda like the dye in swimming pools that colors the water if you pee in it.   :rofl :rofl :rofl

So,

I am the only person who knew about this?  Wow!  :rofl

Personally,  I don't think it  should be allowed.  However, I don't think many other things in the game should be allowed either, but are.  You see, I recognize AH as a game.  Maybe some others are a 'little too close' to the game?

Btw, Alt-Tab to desktop is a game feature. As in, it is built into the game.   I have no idea why this is allowed other than to enable the film viewer?

Saying something is dweebish (which I agree it is) will not make it go away.

Malta

Alt-tabbing is a standard feature of Windows applications.  It has no specific purpose other than to allow you to run and access multiple applications at the same time.

For me, the only thing I use it in AH for is to access my web browser while in the tower or in autoclimb.

As to why I hadn't thought of it, well, I don't spend time trying to think of extra-game methods of identifying my opponents.  I consider the game to be a contest of my skill and tactics against those of my opponent's.  Not a contest to see who can figure out the best method's of subverting the game.  Why do you think HiTech disabled the external views on GVs?

Unfortunately, in a modern world that publishes "cheat codes" and hints and tips for almost every game imagineable on the internet for everyone to see, people have gotten used to finding ways round doing it right.  Thing is, we dont have to react the same as everyone else and just say "thats how it is now", we can act as a community and decide we dont want this as a "feature".  I'm sure if a big enough percentage of the subscriber base wants this particular "feature" disabled, it would get done.  I cant really blame stantond for using something that works, even if the rest of us find it distasteful.  I'm sure he's not the only one, and if he was I'm sure someone else will try it now.  Just one more reason why I dont like GV's and one more reason to leave them to others.  If you want to find me on your film, look up.

My goodness,

I really struck a nerve here.  Breaking the code of silence does have its consequences. :D

I 'discovered' this 'feature' when I started filming GV runs because I could not figure out how I was getting killed.  Maybe I am more observant than most?  Maybe I have played alot of games and easily see a way a feature in the game can be used to your advantage.

I have no reservation or doubt that this feature is used in the game.  I don't really use it much because I move when I GV unless I am spawn camping (yes, I vulch too).   However, talking about this 'levels' the playing field IMO.  Maybe, by talking about it, this feature will be removed?

Obviously, others don't feel that way.

No, its just that to me, doing what you are doing is like getting a newspaper just for the crossword puzzle and then reading half the answers off the next page where they show the completed one for people that cant figure it out.  It defeats the whole purpose of creating an environment where you can hear directional sounds, where you have hills to hide behind, and trees that are really there and not just images you can drive (and shoot) right through.  If playing that way is your thing, by all means go ahead.  I think I've been in a GV of any kind like 3 or 4 times in the MA.  Maybe twice that in the CT.  So its not like it will affect me.  Just dont sit here and tell us you dont like it either but you'll use it as long as its there.  Doesnt get much more hypocritical than that.

Thanks Hitech!

Or else?

Seriously though.

Tell you what, you shave your head and tatoo "handsomehunk" on it and I will play AH the way you think I should the remaining time I play.  Ok?

p.s.  I think Hitech came up with an excellent solution to this issue!

The thought of using that film tactic for an advantage never even occured to me.  Call me a man of integrity, but I pity anyone that would stoop to such a level to gain a slight advantage.  However, it is your money, you get out of it whay you put into it.  If you feel you need that advantage and you are comfortable with exploiting such a situation, the decision to do so is yours.  Will I respect you for it....NO....Do you care if i respect you for it.....PROBABLY NOT....So where does that leave us?

Two questions:

1.  Can the person who shaves his head and tattoo's "handsomehunk" get any say in how you play the game?

2.   If this tattoo already exists, does it have to be written twice to get credit?
