I was kicking around the idea to solve some of the issues with vox regarding volume of recieved transmissions (ie some are super soft / some real loud)
Basically it would involve a front-end directx compressor/limiter built into the AH voice setup page which would consist of an a check box for compression enable.
For those not familiar with compressors / levellers - you hear or don't hear them everyday at work in radio programming and television. If you watch tv and ever had to turn up a major stations broadcast while watching a movie , then when it goes to commercial or your local station inserts a local commercial - you end up scrambling to the remote to turn the volume down - thats a lack of a properly set local broadcast compressor/leveller. They are mixing a national feed and a local feed, but if they were compressed and leveled on the local broadcast level - you wouldn't have that drastic jump in volume.
When they are properly set and enabled, there will never be noticible volume difference in the broadcast....in fact i beleive some televisions have a "smart sounds" option which is basically a built in compressor.
Was just thinking something like that would be a nice feature to AH to help smooth out the voice levels on the user FE.
