Whatever Spain may have done regardiong ETA in the past would not absolve them of their apparent compliance to terrorist demands to get out of Iraq after 3/11 - assuming of course that is your interpretation of the events. I know people disagree on this so lets not make a fight about it.

Oh and as for the original question, iI was kinda tired when I wrote it and responded so some things might not have been clear in both.  I knew France had the largest muslim population. What I really wanted to know was more a subltle issue about attitudes, so thats why I asked Dowding if he had a different perspective beyond just numbers.  Thats also why I asked which nation was most secular wrt to christianity, it was suppopsed to an attitudes question for both. Sorry I did not make that more clear.

Does that make more sense?

Yes, I have too many around me ( family, 2 or 3 friends)and I lost some sex chaces because catholicism. Also my country was 35 years under a NAZI-CATHOLICISM  dictatorship ( lost 30 years of  progress). Add Opus Dei(*), time lost in church when I was a boy, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc....

Last 10 years spanish police arrest almost 1000 ETA members and  a lot of Al-Qaeda members (some directly send to USA justice).

Blair and Thatcher both negotiated with terrorists. Bush I and Jeb Bush are quite cosy with certain Cuban terrorists to this day. The US probably poured more money into Islamic fundamentalist coffers than anyone else over the last 50 years. What was your point again?
