Source for Soviet Air Force organization?
« on: November 25, 2004, 09:57:34 AM »
What's a really good source for Soviet Air Force organization?
Either book or link is fine.

I already have some of the "Black Cross / Red Star" books, but they focus more of the everyday fighting, than the overall picture.

Really what I'm looking for is sort of what those books have in the appendix, but in more detail and covering the whole war instead of just in ½ year intervals.

Stalins Eagles

Hans D Seidl

ISBN 0-7643-0476-3

It gives a listing of all known vvs and kbf  fighter heroes of the GPW and korean conflicts with a short history of each including their units.

It then goes on to chronicle the unit histories.

Whilst there is a short section on IL2 pilots its really only about fighter pilots and their regiments

Snefens,

Did you get my e-mail? I got a full chart on all the VVS Regiments and Squadrons during WW2, their locations and the aircraft they flew but I will have to mail you a copy since my scanner doesn't work.

Drop me an e-mail.

No didn't get it.

If you sent the adress snefens@lazy.dk that you got off the homepage, I'm not using that anymore. If you sent it through this BBS's mail server it might have been caught in my server's spamfilter. Can you try mail it again directly to stefanok@post.tele.dk

(I also tried to mail you through thuis board)

One book I have on my shelves that might be of interest to you is:

THE SOVIET AIR FORCE since 1918 by Alexander Boyd

I found this link to a copy:

Hope that helps...

Have sent it out Wotan and Tilt.

Hey Guys,
Back before we actually started up JG 54, I was actually thinking of starting up a VVS squad for the CT and in the process I gathered up all kinds of info on the subject from A/C profiles, photos, histories, camo patterns, clip art, etc.

I have a pretty large file going - if you need something particular drop me a line - I just may have it.
