B24 drones stop flying formation
« on: November 28, 2004, 11:14:28 PM »
This is not another drones not forming on takeoff post.

The problem is that the drones stop being in formation or they keep in formation but very far away from the lead plane after some slight maneuvers or after an attack.

Situation tonight: I'm flying a formation of B24s, after finishing my first bomb run a P38 attacks me from 6 and hits my lead plane, I end up killing the p38 and he damages my lead b24. The only damage was that the main fuel was hit. As soon as the attack was over I noticed the two drones drifted back and were dropping alt. I slowed down and dove a little and they caught up to my alt but still held back. After I made a very slight turn I noticed they were not keeping in close formation at all, they were turning but not anywhere near as close. When I released my bombs (for the 2nd run) their bombs were obviously completely off. After the bomb run I turned slowly and not sharply at all but they refused to stay in close formation and got farther and farther away until they blew up.

Something like this has happened to me once before also where they refused to keep in formation after I turned to make a course correction.

The first time this happened to me I had 25% fuel and 12x500lbs.
Tonight I had 25% fuel and 8x1000lbs but the formation bug occured after I had already dropped 4 of them.

I’ve put some screenshots here

did you reduce speed to allow them to catch up?

Yes I did (I wrote that in my post) they only catch up to a certain degree and then they kept their distance. When I turned (and I was not at full throttle when turning, only about 60% throttle) they turned slightly but the gap increased so much that they exploded.

Very frustrating.
