Wouldn't this be the Spit9 icon currently available?

as dmf says... I will tell anyone who asks where I am...  if it generates a fight great.    if a tough guy icon makes midnight angry enough to "risk it all" and come down from 15 k or slow down to less than 300 mph.... so much the better.... way too much to hope that he might get into a plane with some parity to have a real fight but...

One minor change to the idea... lets have Lazs decide who gets the icon.

Where do you think my K/D and K/S and K/T come from? There's not a lot of actual killing going on above 10K. I'm down low plenty of times, I just choose not to stay there any longer than I have to. The F6F-5 and A6M, your top 'Kills In' aircraft last tour, might be able to keep pace in turn fights on the deck, but the P-51D that I fly can't expect to do so.

There's a basic principal I try to maintain when getting into low fights. That is, if I can't Zoom-climb to 5K, then I'm too low and too slow and just asking to be killed. The P-51 may have good speed, but it accelerates poorly compared to most others. It rolls and turns poorly at low speeds as well.

Midnight,

You do know that the “Tough Guy Icon” already exists?  Right?  There are a few of them.

This is what they look like:

JU-87
D3A
B5N

These Icons: P-51 and LGay7 do NOT read as “Tough Guy” to most of us.

Get real, Eskimo. The only times I have seen those in the MA is when flown by some newbi that isn't aware they are about to get their arse shot off.

You obviously miss the point of the request. You can't see other plane icons on the clip-board map, or if dar is down, or they are out of range, whatever. This feature (if turned on by the player) would show an icon for him on the clipboard map at all times and in all places, regardless of radar status or whatever.

Basically, If some channel 200 or BBS bigmouth wanted to put something behind their words, they could turn this icon on. Then, if some other BBS big mouth like me wanted to find them so I could go shoot them down, all I would have to do is turn on the icon for myself and, bingo! I would know exactly where that other bigmouth was. Of course then, all those other big mouths would then know exactly where I was too, so it works out just fine.

Keep the icon off, AH radar looks and works exactly as it does now. Turn it on, and the clipboard now becomes your own personal hit list and tells you where to go shopping.

I actually kinda like that idea.

By the way.. I killed two Spit V's in a Ju-87 a while back :).

Of course... since both of em were after me at the same time I ran to some factory ack.. but I did actually kill one of them.  Got the proxy on the other one.  Oh, and for the record I left the ack once one of the Spits got shot down by it :p.

I kinda like the idea, but this feature would take ganging to an extreme.  The 7 or more plane horde would all jump on you, then the guy who got the lucky joust would be like, "Haha! Got ya! You suck!"

It would probably create more running from 1 on 1's too.

Now that's talkin the talk, walkin the walk, and wearin the tough guy JU-87 icon!

Best I've ever done is kill a P-38 in one.  It took 3 or 4 minutes of round and round.  I was lucky that he didn't really know what he was doing or what a JU87 could and couln't do.

Then again, I have been shot down by a B5N.
