« on: December 01, 2004, 02:11:59 AM »
After messn around in my BIOS settngs, and I don't know if this is why?, I had clicked the add performance in Bios.  I get a message new Hardware found and XP tries to load new device but can't find drivers for a "Multimedia Audio controller"?? I went into Safe Mode and removed the device. On reboot still comes up and is still showing error in system devices. My computer seems to work OK. Noticed in AH that frame rate went down from 76 to 35 but dont know if the new patch or what I did. Was done at about sanme time. Also had to re download game after patch since was gettn booted to desktop whe I clicked the Arena. All seems to work now in the game, except my Frame will freeze now for a second the run OK. Worse if lots of fighters in the area. Running XP,K7t266 pro2 MB,AthlonXP 1900,1024ddr RAM,GF6800 256mb,on DSL through lxsys router. Thanks Guys U always BIG help!!!! RajnMAW

What do you use for a soundcard?  It sounds like you enabled an onboard sound device in your BIOS and its being assigned an IRQ even though you dont have a driver loaded for it.  Its going to keep re-appearing in your Device manager as long as it's enabled in the BIOS and detectable.  You can try telling the device manager to disable the device.  I'd go through the BIOS again and see if you can find the listing for "onboard sound device" or something similar and disable it there.  It may be a jumper also.

If you are actually USING the onboard sound, maybe this is an extra component that isnt installed unless you use a specific BIOS setting.  Sounds weird to me, but its possible.  If thats so, do you have the MOBO drivers for your computer?  Try putting the CD in and having windows search for the proper driver for the device.  If you dont, do an internet search for updated drivers for your sound and see if that solves the problem.

Dont know what else to suggest.  Good luck!
