B24 Bombloads
« on: December 02, 2004, 09:22:58 AM »
first off i want to thank u guys for the B24 great job but 1 little thing, what made the 24 stand out against the 17 was its bombload the 8 1k's is authentically correct but we need to up the 500lber's to 16 and 250's to 24 and the 100's to 32 those were the real WWll figures. i hope this won't be to difficult to change but every bomber pilot in the game will be so excited the
local stores will sell out all thier Diapers.

Agree with upping the bomb loads and I would hate to hear that the limited supply of diapers at the local sores is preventing HTC from making the changes.  Just to alleviate any fears, diapers are available at:

bcool,

You'll need to post your data and data source if you want it changed. I've never seen HTC change a simulation part of the game without hard data being provided.

FYI, the current payloads were provided by a player who is a B-24 fanatic.

That is an incorrect statement.  The correct bombloading per the B-24J is as follows:

The B-24J can carry the following bombload per rack (there are 4 racks per aircraft):

2 1600 lb 8 per aircraft
2 1100 lb 8 per aircraft
2 1000 lb 8 per aircraft
3 600 lb 12 per aircraft
3 500 lb 12 per aircraft
3 300 lb 12 per aircraft
5 100 lb 20 per aircraft

When carrying 2000 lb bombs, the main racks are removed and special racks are installed.  These are horizontal racks and one per bay is installed for a total of 4.  Each rack can carry 1 bomb for a total of 4 per aircraft.  Late war allocates 2 more 1000 lbs on the 4000 lb racks on the wing (see below).

Later in the war, special racks on the wings (inbd of #2 and #3 engines) were installed to carry 4000 lbs.

This info was taken from pages 699 and 729 - 730 of the B-24 D - L, RB-24C - E and the PB4y-1 and British Liberator BIII - GRVIII aircraft Erection and Maintenance Manual.
