Not sure if it's ok to post this here or not, but the video is pretty cool.  Work safe pilot stuff.  Take a look.

HOLY CRAP !!! ... the hair is still raised on the back of my neck.

That turn (8.7 Gs) was incredible ... just like a Spit V ... hehe.

Awesome flying. The Reno Air Races have been challenged.

An event like this would never been allowed in the US; lawyers would have been there ready to jump at the chance to sue the events organizers if anything wrong had happened. Besides I doubt the FAA would approve an event like this.

Fast flying, low to the ground yeeehhha!! cool stuff.

Did you guys notice the lack of roll inertia?   Those rolls were crisp and smooth.

Does that compare favorably to AH?   Or is the difference that AH deals with much heavier a/c?

The Redbull races are now held at Reno as well!!!  04 was the first year of this two year old race.

I just saw a show on World of Adventure Sports
These guys are pulling upwards of 10gs in some of these turns.  At reno they had to do a on the spot touch and go.  Sick stuff!!  They showed a shot, I think it was Chambliss draggin his right wing sight device on the tarmack as he pulls up and right for the next gate - sick stuff!!  That is zero tolerance lol.

The event is invite only.  That tells you how good these guys are!  The best of the best of the best!

The trace in the post link is the Hungarian track.

The Hungarian Guy, Besenyei, invented the race last year, won the first one.  Then Kirby Chambliss took the crown from him in the second one held in the UK with a .03 of a second faster time.

Mike Mangold won the Reno race!

They said there will be seven races in 05.  Can't wait!!!!

Absolutely correct... An extra 300 (in the video) weighs less than a cessna 172... And packs about 5 times the horsepower (300 Hp).

Meanwhile a hellcat makes about 2000hp but weighs in at about 14,000 pounds (some warbird guy will give you the correct number, but this is approximately correct)... Anyhow, if you reduce both numbers by a factor of ten, that would be 1,400 pounds and 200 Hp, which is still far less power to weight than the extra 300.

The Extra is a purpose built areobatic madhouse.  Its control surfaces are oversized and its got massive authority on all axises... And its not lugging guns or armour.

Its very cool video. Wanna some more?

Eilif,

I have one AH2 purpose build race circuit map (64 terrain). Its in semi alfa state :)

Its fast done ~42mile circuit for studying / testing the track course ideas. I try to design the corners / corner combinationa where the race line matters (curb apex curb stuff). With race line could I gain ~90 mph exit speed advantage in ME262.

The track is design with Maximum Race Altitude in mind. I think 4k is highest usable Maximum Race Altitude setup. I was planning to use extreme strong upward wind layer or two to give a meaning for Maximum-Race-Alt setting: “ Weeeee! I can see my house from here…”.

Unfortunately I didn’t have a time to test this in h2h yet.
