AAR Frame 2 Breakout
« on: December 04, 2004, 08:54:42 AM »
Mongrels rolled 43 in 190A5 escorting APDrone and crew.  No action till near the target. P-51's over 30k. Most of us were 25 to 30k. Most of the Mustangs stayed high and danced with us. As we engaged the Ju-88 who were about 18k managed to continue north and drop on target. 102, 103 if I recall. With in a couple of minutes we were separated and out numbered as some Spits came into the fray. A few of us managed to break away and head back for the Ju-88’s who were under attack by Mustangs and Spits. I came in very fast and managed to down a Spit with invasion strips. He never saw me as I closed very quickly on his 6.

Managed to force several to break away from Ju-88’s. After a couple minutes we were in the clear and headed back for a 2nd pass. Thor (spelling) was escorting in a 109 with me. Not sure if Ju-88 was able to drop. Mustangs and Spits below us began to climb up. We managed to force several to split s and disengage. Two or three broke away and began to grab while others still were trying to climb up as we forced them to break off. I could already see how this was going to end. Thor was about 5k below me when the last of the Ju88’s were destroyed by some higher Spits. We both started running east for 39. I dove and forced the Spit on him to break. He continued to head for 39 and I dragged as many as I could north away. All broke off but a persistent P-51. Slowly he closed on me and I began to scissor. Strike on my wings and fuselage, but no telling damaged. He was forced to over shoot and I did not attempt a shot since I could still see several other enemy dots in the area and I did not want to loose too much e in a turn fight that I would lose. This happened three times in a running fight back to 39. P-51 would gain and close forcing me to scissor or barrel roll forcing him to over shoot. Each time I could not get a good shot, but was able to gain ground for 39. Near 39 some Spits and Mustangs came in from high. On the deck I avoided several passes again, but lost parts and my windshield became damaged. At 39 some were on the runway I broke away from 39 and flew over the town. A Mustang on my six coming in fast I barrel rolled forced an over shoot and pulled up for a perfect shot, pings on him, but suddenly tracers around me! Nose down rolling and my right wing took a pounding. Pieces flew off and I lost control.  I managed to recover and found the sky clear. With effort I was able to line up on the runway at 39 and land it. Once I was slow enough to drop flaps some stability returned. My neck and shoulders were tense from the 30 minutes of intense fighting. Had a good time. :)

Noticed from the logs AKcurly had 6 kills and AKkillz had 9 killls!!! Wow! WTG! Did you guys film it???

Daddog we (JU-88's) did manage to get to target and drop thanks to Thorr, you and the others. I had BaNNor on board as gunner, and as he was fending off some of those bothersome 51's that just wouldn't go away, I did make a drop. Don't know if my drop was on target, because by then everone and his brother was hitting us. Of course the others (APDrone, Stink1, Buzz1) had radio'd they had hits, but we gave it our all. The biggest victory is just making it to target.  Was a fun mission---------- Oh and to the Allies------- BEWARE OF THE SECRET WEAPON!! muahahahahaha   :p

Oh man! That is too bad. That kind of film would be a keeper. I shot down 4 once in a Squad Ops and to this day I like to watch it. :) I think Swager bagged 7 once as a gunner in a B-17, and Cobra had around 7 not long ago, but I am pretty sure 9 is a record.

What were you flying? What all did you shoot down? Must have been like bagging quail on a golf course. :D

The TOD mission of my career!

I was blessed to draw one of my favorite rides- the Typhoon. My 1st actual kill was a 110 going in on the deck to bomb a vehicle base. Followed by a series of 2 assists on Fw-190A5 's.  Followed by 2 kills of Fw-190A5's. Refueled and rearmed at 40 then flew to 39 and destroyed an ammo bunker with bombs. I then shot down a 109G-6 and assisted Curly in finishing off a 109G-6. Flew a 109G-6 into the trees and shot down a 190A-8 that was closing on the 6 of a friendly. I was then awarded a proximity kill for a 190A8  that discod as I was closing on his 6. Iron and I RTB'd to 40 where we took on fuel and ammo and headed back to 39. While there we noticed a pair of JU88s attempting to break out on the deck to the north northeast. I took the lead on the dive and blasted one 88 to dust and shot up the second on the initial pass through. Iron finished him off by removing his wing. I then went after an 190A5 piloted by Oldmaddog, my oldest and best friend in flight sims (winged together for nearly 9 years now). Somewhere along the way he must have discod as I lost sight of him. I turned back to 39 strafed down a fuel point and then attempted to strafe a chuted pilot as he ran around one of the bomber hangers. This poor guy was target practice for like 8 friendlies before someone killed him. Iron was rtb to 40 and I saw only 6 remaining enemies were in the arena so I nosed over and hit the WEP to catch up with Iron as he landed for the last time at 40. All in all a very exciting and busy night. The time flew by.

That was a lot of fun, I got nailed when, instead of running back INTO the hangar, I ended up running ONTO the hangar. I knew I was screwed when I started climbing up the top of the arch lol.

I was shot down not far from the hangar about 35-45 minutes into the frame. My engine had died, and I couldn't find a safe place to land (too many trees, no way I could make it to the field). I was pretty close to the base, so I started to walk in that direction. I really felt like I was playing Operation Flashpoint, as I ran from tree group to tree group trying to get back to the base.

Luckily, some Tampoons had just started some fires at the base, which made it easy to spot, even from the ground. The Tampoons must have run out of ammo, and left, since the field was empty by the time I made it. The place was deserted, but I still hoped to find some sign of life. I ran to a nearby deuce and a half, but there were no keys in the ignition, and I have no idea how to hotwire one of these things. So I ran over to the Tower, but no-one was there.

Around this time I saw a few planes coming in, so I went out to the runway to see if I could help any of the. DOShill had to belly land his 109, so I helped him out of his plane, then I saw Daddog touch down. I was on my way to help Stink1 (iirc) refuel when the Air raid sirens started up again. I ran for cover over at a hanger, and reported the raid to allied command. I was giving a detailed account of the strike, when one of the enemy planes spotted me, and attempted a straffing pass. I ran myself ragged in and around that hangar, before finally getting picked off.

To be honest though, the enemy should have simply left me alone, as one of their planes crashed while trying to pick me off :)
