hesitations and stutters
« on: November 27, 2004, 09:46:19 AM »
OK so I thought I'd improve performance by not using onboard  sound. I got an Audigy2 ZS.....  Now I get stutters but only when I release mike after talking.....

Loud sounds don't cause this... Guns fire fine (no hesitations)

Lowered accel a little and then to none with no improvement.

Decided this was not good and took Audigy out and went back to Nforce2 onboard sound but now I'm getting the same stutters (which I didn't have before)

I had removed all creative programs with control panel but I find a lot of "codecs" and stuff in "device manager"

which I'm sure came from creative..... And I can't disable.... Or remove...

Also the sounds are still like I have the Audigy card in... (the cannon sound different with the Audigy)

OK so what do I do........ Remember its only on when radio transmitting (when I release transmit button)....

BTW; ran Mark5 before and after Audigy install and saw no diff in score.... Sounds better but no performance bump....

That is why I still use Nforce sound - IF IT AIN'T BROKE... :)

Try Driver Cleaner which has a CREATIVE AUDIO CLEANER as well as video and chipset cleaners.  I also use the CAB cleaner option.

Did you remove the Creative Codecs in Device Manager before you ran Driver Cleanner and did you run it in Safe Mode?  Here is what Codecs show up in my system with Nforce2 onboard.

Removed everything it would allow me to remove.... My DM looks just like yours with the exception of the "hall duplex audio device"......  Did find a soundblaster file... Removed same.... No diff...

no spyware or viruses

found file in startup (SB file) ...deleted same ,reboot and same thing.....

Unchecked wave in and now working as before.... All ok

Do you  have "wave in" enabled in your Ahvoice perferances?

I don't need it checked using the Nvidea onboard sound but it appeared I needed it with the audigy.....

Was there really a big improvement in sound quality with the Audigy?  I have my puter connected through the SPDIF digital output to my Home Theatre surround sound and use it to listen to my MP3s, also.  Did you ever try checking WAVE IN with the Audigy?  I actually do have it checked with my ob sound just because it was checked with my first AH rig using SB Live.  Did you install the CD drivers, newer ones, or XP Native drivers?

Yes there seemed to be a significant (maybe just because it was different) sound quality with the Audigy.

I had wave in checked with Ahvoice and that seemed to be giving me the hesitations..... I don't need it checked with  onboard  sound and once I unchecked it the hesitations went away......

To answer your question.... Yes I liked the sound better.....

I've been getting some stutters with this patch, but from what I'm reading on alot of these post - i don't think it's on my end.

Some say the map is causing issues (oz), some say it's sound related. I've been using my soundpack and have never had issues before..now sometimes i'll get a distorted gunfire sound (hurri2dcannons), ect and recently - had a screen freeze when pulling trigger. Not sure if the freezes are due to new skins...haven't been able to put a finger on whats causing it.
It might even have to do with  XP SP2....who knows..lol

I'll get the framerate drops and slowing down of frames..

I'm kinda at a loss, but I'm doing some upgrade work this week on my pc (raid array) and will be doing a fresh instal of everything.
gonna see what happens with that.

I'm using a SB audigy, and have never had problems like this before as far as Im aware.

My hesitations was not with sounds but on release of mike button... Using your sounds and have no problem with "incoming" sounds... Only push to talk release

are you using any of the audigy "goodies" that they pack in with their software/drivers?..ie multimedia programs or such? I only use the drivers from creative, and dont use any eax, ect....

I don't use wav in for voice.

In your windows setup. (control panel, sounds and Audio devices. click audio tab and voice tab) Make sure the  audigy is showing for voice recording, playback. It should be in all of the boxes under both of those headings. Also disable the on board sound if your mobo has it in bios.
