The .res files are compiled at HTC
In order to access the default skin files manually, do this:
-Open AH
-Go to the hangar
-Right click on the aircraft/vehicle of choice
-Click 'save skin'
-Find your /HTC/Aces High II/skins directory
-Inside, you'll find the saved skin in it's own directory. This dir contains all the skin bitmaps associated with the aircraft/vehicle.
- then skin!
-To see your skin in the game, create another directory in the //skins folder of the particular aircraft/vehicle followed by a number.
eg, if I have 3 existing skins of a Spitfire Mk.V, and I want to add a fourth, the path looks like this:
/HTC/Aces High II/skins/spit5
4or the first P40E skin:
/HTC/Aces High II/skins/P40E
1-Inside this directory you'll create a text file of the same name, but without the trailing number. "P40E.txt" or "spit5.txt." In the file make a small description or name of the skin. HTC recommends keeping it under or around 20 characters.
