Salute to Cobra412
« on: December 10, 2004, 03:34:13 PM »
Just wanted to acknowledge Cobra412 for the good time the other night.  You sure can fly that p-40.  I dont normally monitor Channel 200, I personally dont like the flaming and cheap talk.  However, I did that night and conversed back and forth with Cobra as we attempted to set up a dance.

I know the dueling arena is the best place for that type of flying but the variable of having to watch for other flyers while doing it in the main arena spices it up a few notches.  Anyway, a class act and flyer there Cobra, he even let me land when I got a pilot wound so I could up and be readily handed my rear end.  I died but I had fun when I died.  In short, thats what its all about.  Heres to looking for more adventures like that.  Maybe we can meet in the DA or TA sometime and you can show me some stuff to even make it more interesting for you.

Sounds like there is hope for the MA, afterall.  :lol

Cobra IS a good stick.  I even saw him beat Shane in the DA.  It was a fair fight, too.

Thanks for the kind words guys.  I really had alot of fun the other night with those fights Muttman.  Its not often you can have a decent competition with someone without having raging egos.

I'm always open for a friendly DA get together.  I'm pretty timid though on teaching folks how to fly a certain way.  I'm mediocre at best and my way of flying probably isn't the best thing in the world to learn.  I'd hate to give folks bad advice is what it really comes down to.  I'm sure I have alot of bad habits that the vets use to hammer me and I don't wanna put someone in the same boat.

I'm up for the fun fights though.  Thanks again for the kind words all.

HOGWASH!

don't be afraid of nothing or anyone! if you think you have something to offer or bring to the table for others then do it, not everyone thinks the same about each scenario and you may open the eyes of other "vets" that was thinking in the other direction  :aok

TC that is true to an extent.  Problem is if I knew I could beat the vets 50% of the time then I'd be happy to pass the knowledge on.  Currently I'm maybe 20% if that when against some of them.  It's obvious I'm doing something wrong and I'd hate to tell someone to use something and not have it work.  Granted it works quite often on alot of folks but not when it counts the most.

I have no issues teaching someone the basics though.  Basic theory and maneuvers that is of fighting.  Plus alot of what I do comes naturally to me and I have a problem explaining why I do what I do all the time.  I may be keying off of the aircrafts attitude, speed and maneuverability but in all honesty I'm not sure which all the time.  Problem is I just react the majority of the time.  I may setup a basic position but once the merge happens it's all reaction and instinct.

Nothing wrong with a bit of banter and taunting between adversaries, its those that take it seriously that will have a problem with it.

This game can be very competitive, nothing wrong with a bit of taunting to bait an opponent >

Cobra,  didn't you and I fly together/against each other in H2H couple of years ago?  Seems like we did.  Had a great time there learning the ropes.

Furball, it was not my intention to imply there was anything wrong with a bit of banter and taunting between adversaries on channel 200 or to fault those that do.  I merely stated that personally I dont care to partake in it.  My decision not to, your decision to do so.

I will at times tune in and acknowledge a good fight.  Or, if someone I have had a good fight with in the past is logged on, I will tune in to see if they are conversing on 200.  If so I will try and gather some intel as to where they might be flying and depending on my mood, set up a surprise engagement with them.:D .

I did just that last night again with Cobra, only my surprise jump did not last that long.  I got a few hits in there and then we tangled with him coming out victorious, AGAIN.  I had told him on a previous engagement that I would "catch him unaware" sometime and I did, but dangit he got me!  Way to go Cobra.
