GV Bugs AGAIN
« on: December 11, 2004, 12:45:25 PM »
1) Put 6 rounds into side/rear of a M16 with Tiger ALL BOUNCED at less d600!!!!
Finally hit the front wheel and got a kill.
Had the same happen with M3's (as has numerous other people).

2) Yet another GV can put 1 round into a Tiger rear from over 2400 and kill it.

3) Had a Tiger killed by a Panzers pintle gun (had already taken out his main gun) d>2000yrds.
Don't wanna hear he must have hit 'you' as in pilot BS, seems like a lame excuse for a possible bug.

4) The 'rubber' rounds are rapidly becoming a worn out old joke. Seen two Tigers put over 60 rounds into a T34 and only detrack him.

Don't ask for films, there are PLENTY of documented threads on the BBs you can find about this total BS. Seen tigers killed by M16s, Ostys etc. Yup realism at its best.

GVs are a great addition to the game, pay them a bit of attention and sort out this total fiasco of gv damage modelling.

[edit] Thinking about I think I may know where the problem lies.
Do you take into account the speed of the target vehicle? If so this may be at the root of a lot of GV probs.
A hit on a vehicle is in effect a static event considering the speed of the projectile relative to the target. In reality the speed of the target vehicle is irrelevant given the relative speeds.
Why do I say this? 99% of the bouncy rounds on M3s etc seem to occur when hitting a moving vehicle.

This problem was greatly enhanced after the patch that added the angle of hit. A 90 degree hit to the side of an M3, M16, M8 at less that 600 should always be a hit, no round will ricochet. My theory is based on the same hit on a 'tank' will result in kill even it is moving. But M3,M16, M8 move at faster speeds which is why I am wondering if you include the speed of target there may be bug somewhere.

Yes i have noticed the change in the last 2 patches. It seemed to be fixed 4 patches ago. Now it seem,s screwey again. Then again...the GV damage model/terrain effect on gv...  has always seemed screwey to me.

I know hwo you feel Kev. I put 3 rounds into a T-34 up close and personal. All into the turret and nothing. One hit from him I am dead.

Have another to add -
P47 straffs a panzer 90 degrees to the side and takes out BOTH tracks in one pass.
Now I know the damage model is totally fubared. Shame is nothing ever gets done about it.

Remember the patch that fixed seeing GV through hills. It didn't, in fact even now tracks are still viewable through hills.

Sure I remember reading one patch introduced cumulative damage on GVs, yeah right, thats why a T34 can sit there and get hammered by two Tigers. Cumulative damage my big hairy arse.

The only thing thats cumulative is the amount of bugs introduced by patches fixing bugs.

hit a moving m3 with tiger AP round. It bounced off. 2nd shot did not. 1st shot hit the front grill and the 2nd hit the right door. Wierd. I would think it would have at least disabled his engine
