YOU Can Help a Wounded HERO Today
« on: December 17, 2004, 07:56:49 AM »
The number one request at Walter Reed Medical Center is phone cards.

The government doesn't pay long distance phone charges and wounded soldiers are rationing their calls home.

Many will be there throughout the holidays.

Really support our troops --Send phone cards of any amount to:

 Medical Family Assistance Center
 Walter Reed Medical Center
 6900 Georgia Avenue, NW
 Washington, DC 20307-5001

They say they need an "endless" supply of these -- any amount is greatly appreciated.  All of us on this board can afford to to show our thanks to these HEROES and buy them a phone card for Christmas.
My mind is a raging torrent, flooded with rivulets of thought cascading into a waterfall of creative alternatives.
Stay thirsty my friends.

Just got back from Costco, $50.00 worth of phone cards on the way.

I sent cards to my nephews unit in Afganistan each time they deployed, they really do appriciate it.

Comfort for America's Uniformed Service Elite

Cause is a nonprofit organization providing comfort items for troops recuperating in military hospitals and rehabilitation centers from wounds and injuries suffered in Iraq and Afghanistan and in other military theaters.

I have met the lady that is the driving force behind this organization. For this effort and for many other charitable organizations and efforts she supports, I respect and admire her very, very greatly.

Her husband was my brother's roommate at the "High School on the Hudson", so both of these people are well known by my family. They have a long history of going "above and beyond" for worthy causes.

There is true need for almost everything imaginable. If you have a business or can influence the company you work for to contribute, please check with CAUSE to see what you can do. If those conditions don't apply, you can simply donate.

The website has all the donation/contact information.

Thanks!
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animated contest of freedom, go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen!

Sounds like a great organization, Toad.

C'mon guys. We need to get on board with these people and help our wounded vets. I know it may be painfull not to get that new goodie for yourself this Christmas, but this is the time of year to be thinking of others.

Blatant bump, but it's for a good cause.

BTW, I just sent $100 worth of cards and enclosed a note saying they were from a grateful DEMOCRAT vet. C'mon you war mongering chickenhawk conservatives, make me look bad and send in more than I did. :p
