night an search lights
« on: December 10, 2004, 09:46:37 AM »
howa bout we have night back  but with no icons  friend or foe  untill you are eally close, kill shot off at night.
search lights  at areas  like ports  and factories   and cities,  and  some barrage ballons  .

the ballons can be used to prtoect some bases  from low leverl bombers  or around ports  and  towns.

just think flying low in the dark  and hiting a  ballon:D .

i like the night flying  but i think that icons should be off for every one  and killshooter, you still have dot dar   so  you should be able to find the n me  with out the mistake of shooting a friendly.
then with night we can have night fighters  with dar.

just some ideas

Looking at a squaddies picture he took during night time at about 1AM  it wasn't too bad, you couldn't see much into the sky as it was dark but the ground was still relatively light.  If the sun is so bright can the moon be a light too?

BF, I would tend to disagree with this. Both sides of the fence are hotly debated in these threads, and there is no real winner that I can ascertain. Night as we know it now ... SUCKS ... plain and simple.

What I do think, is that night will not see the light of day until HT implements a true night with somewhat realistic night attributes.

He has already said that they have searchlights (but not yet implemented) and who knows what else he might have in store, but I believe that we will not see "night" until these can/are implemented ... sometime prior to TOD going beta I would presume. I believe that the MA will eventually be providing a test bed for TOD attributes and night will be one of them.

Patience my friend !!!

Night is not all it's cracked up to be....It's also getting to where daytime is a PITA...could we not just have a "normal" 12 hour day?....Like the sun rises in the east around 6 am and set's around 6pm...only to start all over again, instead of the rising setting every couple of hours....model it more to actual time. except leave night out....so you would have 2 sun rises and 2 sunsets per day.

The constant perfect days in the MA are really starting to become tiresome.
At least re-enable (or whatever you have to do) clouds. The always beautiful summer day in the MA is BORING.
We need some variation here.

It's time for Night and Weather again.  It's really getting boring without it.

Absolutely.

Night, and Clouds please. Bluesky more  bluesky with more  bluesky is very boreing. The game needs a bit of variety. Its fun to play but a little too static in terms of the Ma arena. I know there is some good development work in flight modeling etc but I think we need some nice stuff to look at. Jungle map, winter map, searchlights, etc. Stuff that enlivens the look of the game in addition to its playability. Its high time for some development of the arena itself.

will it affect frame rates
« Reply #11 on: December 17, 2004, 05:32:30 PM »
I'm all for weather as long as it doesn't affect frame rate. Seems like every patch except for the one with the haze eats away frame rate.

We have squadies struggling now to play because frame rate is steadly being eaten away. I hope there are a lot of video cards under the tree this year.

Im for anything that does not kill the frame rate at the rate we have been losing it lately.
