Anyone seen The Prestige?
« on: February 14, 2007, 10:30:07 PM »
just saw it this evening, wow, what a film. kinda crazy, and really had you thinking (i like trying to figure out what's going on in those type of stories).

for those that haven't seen it, it's a great film, definitely worth a watch, fantastic twist. it's hard to follow at first but the film reveals the story beautifully, bit by bit.

anyone here seen it, and what did you think of it?

Good tempo, but it has a huge plot hole.

One of the magicians (Bale) tells that the clue is "Tesla", which prompts the other one (Jackman) to go to Nicola Tesla, which by incredible coincidence, is working on a machine that does exactly what Jackman was looking for. (no spoilers here).

The good thing about the movie is that is so well-paced, you accept that trick in the plot without questioning it (until after the movie has ended).

but tesla and his assistant admit that they hadn't made anything like it before, they lied in order to get his money

I saw the movie back in October,    if you havent seen the movie yet then dont click this, there are possible spoilers there.

I still think the bird cage trick was a foreteller of the ending...

and David Bowie was excellent, I had to watch the credits to make sure it was him.  I still have to get this one on DvD

They tried to pull a "sixth sense" kind of ending but I think they missed it.

i thought exactly the same thing about bowie, had to check the credits. there were some really great acting performances in that movie. i'm hoping bowie does some more acting actually, from the movie it seems as though he has a lot of talent :)

i liked it though, it was great fun. i'm not a movie critic as such, much more of a movie lover, and a film needs to be pretty bad with serious flaws for me not to enjoy it. although the plot was a little twisted, it was an enjoyable movie to watch, and had you thinking.

definitely worth a watch for those that haven't seen it ;)
