in the MA partially due to the setup (I think). Single digit frame rates at all fields regardless of type of field and when other aircraft are within drawing range. The terrain "sparkles" like no mip-mapping is applied. Stutters from he11 are back (likely due to the skin loading... again).
And in the CT all of the above except no aircraft shapes are drawn when the aircraft gets within drawing range. Dots and tracers, no aircraft drawn at all. Also, in the CT skins are not working for me.
This is all new today for me. The last time I played, Xmas eve, everything was fine. I just had the normal frame rate hit of with the oz terrain. No changes have been made to my system with the exception of downloading and installing a fresh copy of AH on my puter (complete uninstall of the previous version first) after first experiencing problems with the game early today. Ran a virus scan with AVG after updating it. Ran several malware/adware/spyware killers (also freshly updated) and I ran complete scan-disk and defrag. No joy.
Not a VC problem on my end - my puter ran the "other WW2 FS's" fine this afternoon prior to reinstalling AH and making sure my system is running clean.

Have you checked all your video settings in the game? If you reinstalled, then more than likely any custom settings you had are gone. "Stuttering" can be caused by alot of things, I dont see why they would be caused by skin downloads. I've heard other people complain about that but I've never heard a rationale to explain it. Even with a marginal system, the download shouldnt be that much of a hit on your performance. And didnt they make the skins available on the website for download all at once so you dont have to go through that? As for skins not being available in the CT, that happens from time to time. You just exit the arena and come back in, they work fine. One thing that can for sure cause stuttering like you describe is having higher max textures enabled than your comp can handle.

I hope this does you some good, or that the problem resolves itself. Maybe Skuzzy will have better suggestions. Good luck!

The reinstall was done after experiencing these problems. No changes were made on my system (the first thing I checked) and no changes were made to the graphics settings in AH (the second thing I checked). The game ran fine Christmas eve - same terrain with no problems at all. My first thoughts when I experienced these problems were that I had problems on my system, hence the maintenance and reinstall of AH. When my actions didn't cure the problems I posted here.

Dont know if its related, but i got a frame rate hit today as well. Usually im stable in between mid twenties to thirties, today it was yoyo from single digit up to 35 and down again, depending on water, aircraft or field/fire in sight.

hmm. Just logged in for a bit and the game played fine. I had the standard stutters when new skins showed up in the draw but the problems from yesterday are gone. Again no changes to my system to get it that way.
Near as I can tell, damned if I know what the problem was...
Oh well - back to the fun
