What is the min alt to drop bombs? I had a lanc that was less
than 800 above me drop and kill me.

How in the world can a 262 survive a hit from m8 cannon? I saw
the flash.

When will the gv damage model be fixed?

Is this info some HTC secret and we have to find out AFTER the
fact? Dunno about the rest of ya, but I'm getting torqued about
the "gaming the game" stuff.

Hopefully I'll get a few informative answers and no doubt a few
flames.

There is no minimum altitude that a bomb must be dropped from before it is armed. The bomb must TRAVEL at least 1000 feet before it arms. If the Lanc was at 800 ft AGL and factor in the speed, it is no doubt that the bombs would have travelled more than 1000 feet, hence the explosions and your death.

Where did you hit it ? Did you at least damage it ? Did it take off ? Are you expecting the 262 to explode no matter where the shell hit ?

When will the gv damage model be fixed?

The GV damage model was discussed at this years con during the Q & A session.

It was explained that the GV damage model is the most complex module in all of Aces High. Everthing from angle of the projectile, the size of the projectile, angle of amor, armor thickness, along with internal components within the vehicle after amor has been penetrated are taken in consideration when calculating damage.

For example .. if you shoot a tank in the rear, you not only have to penetrate the amour, but you also then have to penetrate the engine and any other components that may be in the way before a kill/damege is determined.

I am not defending the damage model ... just passing on what I was told. There definately are some anomolies that are hard to explain, but just think of the complexities that are involved in this damage model and the possibilites of failure. That might alieviate some of the angst.

On the nose, D800 and closing. I'ld EXPECT it to have some
damage, but it kept flying and the pilot reported he saw a couple
of bullet holes in the wing, nothing else.
Oh man here we go with the "your FE vs their FE" stuff.

Nope ... won't go there ... don't know what to tell ya. Like I said, there are anomolies and when I encounter those I just say .. "Oh well .. no biggie ... next".

I was born in the night ... but it wasn't last night. Having a personal discussion with someone, I can usually tell when the smoke is rising. In this case, I believed Pyro was sincere and truthfull ... YMMV

Pyro didn't deny that there are problems, but with extreme complexity, especially in the programming world, there is always room for error. Yes, they probably need to revist some of their damage model, but I don't believe that it will take place until TOD is done and released. There are bigger fish to fry at the moment, but I believe that if vehicles are to play an important role in TOD, that is when the GV damage model will be revisited.

SCDR,

It sounds like you were firing the machine gun in the M8 as well as the main gun.  If that is true you may have hit with some machine gun rounds and missed with the 37mm round.

SlapShot ty for the replies. I know you mean well. It's just a very
sore subject, with me atleast, about the gvs. I guess there will
come the day that I will ask myself, is AH2 really worth it?
