Car Stereo Guys...??

Ok Dodge guys / Car stereo guys.....

Had a 300W amp professionally installed in my 04 Stratus Sedan R/T a while ago but Ive been noticing some power losses "of course" while driving at night...which seems to be depleting my battery power.....

So heres my question....
1. I noticed that the guy wired the power wire into the "box" on the driver side under the hood, NOT the battery in the tire well. Do I need to move this wire? or is it ok there?

2. This seems to be a really good amp, do I need to get one of those farad capacitors for this? maybe resolving the battery power issue?

3. Is it common, even when I have the amp cut off....the power windows dim my interior lights just a bit...is this common in stratus's?

??????????????????

anyone help?:D

1. Should be 2 power leads coming form the amp.. 1 for the 12v main power for the amp and one that is a remote turn on for the amp when the key is turned. Basically its a relay..  It is comon for the remote turn on lead to be in your fuse panel. Not so much for the main power lead.

2. Probably is not needed. Is the amp powering down?

3.  Yes, this is common. Perhaps a higher rated battery next time. Its really no big deal though as long as all is working.. 8)

300w is pretty small, wouldn't think it'd be causing electrical problems like that. You can always try a 1/2 farad cap & a new battery... Optima Yellow Top's are good.

What kind of amp is it? Is it rated 300w max or 300w rms. When the base hits are your lights dimming? Chances are you need a capacitor. Your amp should be wired to the battery unless you have a dual output altenator.
