LOS ANGELES - Some pharmaceutical companies are telling their employees to look out for the scruffy guy in the baseball cap.

The Los Angeles Times reported Wednesday that at least six drug companies have released internal communications telling employees to be wary of filmmaker Michael Moore.

Moore's targets have included General Motors ("Roger & Me"), the gun lobby (the Oscar-winning "Bowling for Columbine") and President Bush (news - web sites) ("Fahrenheit 9/11").

Moore, normally seen sporting a beard and a ball cap, has now set his sights on the health care industry, including insurance companies, HMOs, the Food and Drug Administration (news - web sites) and drug companies.

"We ran a story in our online newspaper saying Moore is embarking on a documentary and if you see a scruffy guy in a baseball cap, you'll know who it is," said Stephen Lederer, a spokesman for Pfizer Global Research and Development.

In September and October, Wyeth, AstraZeneca and GlaxoSmithKline, the second-largest in retail sales, sent out Moore alerts, instructing employees that questions posed by the media or filmmakers should be handled by corporate communications.

Heavyweights Sanofi-Aventis Pharmaceuticals and Synthelabo sent similar memos before their recent merger. "

I hope he goes after dietary supplements eventually.  He really is the tool of tools.

Well, maybe it'll bring more attention to the drug companies.

They recently pulled several drugs whose side effects included death... yet they go on their way merrily making more **** to kill us, but atleast we'll have a hard on or look younger.

Moore has a habbit of making people want to defend people/companies they'd otherwise despise.

I'm sure he'll find someone to interview.  Whether it be an ex-employee, a disgruntled one, a true insider or just the crazy homeless guy that lives across the street.

Yeah, and if he doesn't find anyone or anything, he can just make something up and call it all a "documentary".
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animated contest of freedom, go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen!

The pharmaceutical industry does need a good looking at. There was a good 20/20 I believe that showed much, if not most, of the research goes to making the "next generation" slightly improved brand name drug to cover when the original drug goes generic. Really the same drug, with a minor change and a new name that is then marketed to doctors to be prescribed over the old, less expensive (but virtually identical drug) generic drug. A bunch of other stuff.

Of course, Moore will automatically cause a good portion of the population to have knee jerk, unquestioned  support for the drug companies when perhaps they should be paying attention to the issue and looking at outer sources they would find more credible. I almost wonder if Moore is getting funding from the drug companies themselves on this one :)

MM is an interesting piece of work.  He claims to be from Flint Michigan a self described "Flint Native" Flint being a blue collar town.  In fact he's from nearby Davison, Michigan.  He was born and raised there.  Davison is a town that is affluent and a white collar community.  He is total BS.  His entire life is a well choreographed play with one aim, to keep himself laughing all the way to the bank.

Here's MM's resume

1972: worked for GM in Flint at the Buick assembly line.  Quits on his first day.

1986: Mother Jones the flaming liberal magazine.  fired after 3 months

1987: Nader HQ offered a grant by the Nader organization to write a newsletter after being a total foul up had his grant revoked and was asked to move on.

1989: Roger & Me the hit piece on GM a "documentary" proven to be misleading and with invented timelines by Liberal Critics.

1994: NBC releases MM's series "TV Nation" flops after 9 episodes.

1995: Fox Studios Fox releases "TV Nation and flops after 8 episodes.

1995:  MGM Studios Canadian Bacon the flop movie that was withheld from release for two years due to MM's incessant whining.

1996: Borders promotes "Downsize This"  hosting el tubbo at booksignings everywhere.  at these signings he urges customers to purchase their books elsewhere.

1997: Salon Magazine  His antics get him fired from this extreme left publication.

2002:  Bowling for Columbine  heavily edited to fit MM's preconceived notions.  wins an academy award and is booooo'd off of the stage at the awards ceremony by his ideological peers.

2004: Disney/Miramax gives MM $6,000,000 to produce fahrenheit 911 another work of fiction in keeping with the above pattern.

Interests: Politics

Real Estate: 1.9 million dollar home in NYC; 1.2 million dollar home in Michigan.

Other sources of income: denouncing the wealthy at $30,000.00 per speech.

I agree here with mini D.  I hope he doesnt' go off the wall here because there really is some misgivings goin on in the pharmacutical industry today.  They have a lot of power and influence in Govt and among medical groups such as the AMA.

My predictions though is he will find some remote 6th degree of seperation link to Bush or some other politicians about conflict of interest/corruption involving tort reform.  He'll show some dying 6 year old who wants to sue but won't have time and new govt regulations magically don't allow her.......then with very little looking on some journalists part it will probably come to bear that her family has allready sued and won a huge settlement.

there I spoiled the whole movie for you.
