I had a feeling that sliding the fact that you donated into a post in some other thread just wasn't going to be enough. Practically started the stopwatch when I saw that.

Only a moron would need a post in the AH BBS to give them the novel idea of trying to help out. And it's nobody's business but our own.

Come on guys, don't take your stalking-habits out on me for posting the thread. Donate. Help your fellow humans out. You never know when we'll need it...

Rip, might I suggest send your money to care.org, that way you know you're not sponsoring a bunch of pedophiles or lining the back pockets of nothing more than a very well run business ;)

Great for Hutton.  Bottom line is they got some help.  As to my being a moron for not thinking of doing it on my own, well, no, that doesn't make me a moron, it makes me a Grade A Jack*** that needed a swift kick in said *** to get into gear.

Kick accomplished, aid sent, someone over there is better off.  Flame away.

WTG!

For the rest of you...

This is not a time for personal attacks. Its a time to help out.

Just do it. $5.00, $50, $500, whatever you can muster up.

Nor is it a time for braggards, or people telling what the rest of you should or shouldn't do.

Why is it not a time? I'm suggesting it, not "telling" you to.

No it is not your business Ozark.

You chose a very public service minded and risky vocation.  My brother-in-law is a firefighter.  I admire the selflessness it takes to perform the duties that you do.

It does not give you the right. however,  to make this or anything else your business.

I think it was very helpful for you to post the information you did.  But let folks' consciences be their own guide.

Get off the stupid bellybutton guilt trip Ozark.

You said it was your business what others do, and it isn't.

I already said you did a good thing by helping and by posting the info on where you helped so that others my do so, if they wish.

There's a lot of guilty people here.  I can't think of any other reason to post whines and complains about someone trying to help others.

Is my neighbor a bragger?  She asks me to sponsor her walk for cancer every year.

Is my pastor a bragger?  He asks me to donate to the welfare fund once a month.

Are the kids that come to my door asking for toys to support toys for tots braggers?

If you don't want to donate, don't.  But don't transfer your guilt to someone who is trying to raise money for a worthy cause, whatever their motive.
