Advice from a Dweeb.... (Episode 1)
« on: May 09, 2000, 02:24:00 AM »
Well, I am a 190 flyer most of the time, but following the advice I read on this BB, I am having a Temporary break from it....

I am now mostly flying the "Chicken 'O the Sea" (Translate to F4U 1C/1D) .. I kinda like it, I especially like the fact that the "Piper" is above the 190 one (Meaning U can actualy see lower than the center of your Piper...). Now, I realised ONE thing with this bird...it's WAY more nimble than the 190...and I found that to be dangerous for me !

Let me explain :
Since It is more nimble, I will follow a Tgt easier than I would With a 190... meaning, Instead of working on a Con, I will try to go for a Quick kill....DANGEEEEERRRR !!!!

Don't be fooled, It might be a good E retentioner (Sp?), but if the guy in the red plane get's you slow.....U dead !
So, My message is : Good thing that the F4U is more nimble than the 190, but DON'T GET FOOLED......Don't Turn, Keep B&Zing.....

This was the 1st edition of "Advice from a Dweeb" !

Speed is life my friend, especially in a Hog.

As you know I mostly fly the F4u-1D, and it is best to keep it fast.  That said, I will use flaps and E fighting tactics to mix it up with any plane in the game if I have a bit of E advantage, even slow.  If it's just me and a 190A8... heck I'll stallfight that truck. <G>

Wait until you get the A5 Saint... you'll find it much more nible than the A8.  Even in WB the A8 is a truck, the P47 is "nimble" by comparison.

"MY P-47 is a pretty good ship
And she took a round coming 'cross the Channel last trip
I was thinking 'bout my baby and lettin' her rip
Always got me through so far
Well they can ship me all over this great big world
But I'll never find nothing like my North End girl
I'm taking her home with me one day, sir
Soon as we win this war"
