My roommate in college had the klipsch 4.1 system.  It's definately top of the line.    Maybe someday I'll splurge for a klipsch system, but I can't bring myself to shell out for it anytime in the forseeable future.

I like having the 7.1.  I like the audigy 2 software.  And I like the speakers.  When I upgraded from 5.1 I was glad I did, but not like OMYGODTHESESPEAKERSROXXORSMYB OXXORS"

lol...I understand.  The difference in price will be quite sizeable after I ship the Klipsch and pay duty on them.

Creative 7.1s I can buy here...surprisingly cheap too.

Being as I am going from a crappy really old 2.1 system with on-board sound in my computer the 7.1 Creatives are probably the way I should go.

I forget how much I paid for them.  I got them at Best Buy a few months ago.  Get them and try them.  If you aren't happy, you can always return them and get the others.

Klipsch are the best PC speakers available
though more expensive then the bracket your looking at.

If your environment allows you some 5.1's and crank it up go for it. Otherwise headphones are best imho.

Ive been eyeing the surround-systems too, wondering how much they add to the game.  I know games like Joint Operations, which have a lot of sound effects (birds, water ebbing, etc) would probably sound awesome.

A couple years back I went with an Altec Lansing (sp?) setup...2 speakers and a big subwoofer.  Wow, the subwoofer alone adds a lot.
