DVDA,
I rarely fly the 38 but over the years I've read hundreds of posts about it. I suggest you do a BBS search and you'll find lots of threads on flying the 38, and a ton of AKAK's films to watch.
I think a few starting points will help you right away:
1) Turn of Combat Trim. Just fly with elevator trim in approximatley the middle of the indicator.
2) In a turn use 1 or 2 notches of flaps as soon as you are slow enough for them to engage. Be careful when you speed back up, the autoretract feature can cause weird aerodynamics when you aren't expecting it.
3) Go verticle when possible. Do slow loops that almost no one can follow.
4) Avoid high speed dives, otherwise compression will make you a lawn dart. Map your elevator trim to your stick so you can hit up elevator trim (usually in panic) when you break this rule. It might be enough to pull you out.
