5.1 Surround Sound Problem
« on: January 10, 2005, 10:21:16 AM »
Hey guys, I got a problem with my Creative Surround Sound.

I finnaly got it to work with every program after a few hours of screwin around with it.  Eery thing works fine in AH except for the sound from the front middle speaker.  I do get sound out of it, but not much of it.  I can barely hear my guns firing or GV sounds period.  I do can hear everything fine from the front speaker when I use the HAT button to look to the left or right.

Is there anything I need to change or configure in AH, or should I just do a reinstall?

Thanks,
4cid

The game does 3D sound without the need of external decoding.  You just make sure your speakers are set in the Windows sound control panel to reflect you have a 5.1 speaker setup.

Also, if you use any of the custom sound packs, you will lose the 3D sound that Aces High generates if the sounds are recorded in stereo.  In order for 3D sound to work in Aces High, all sounds must be mono.  This is actually a requirement of the Windows DirectSound library.

Yeah, it is all set correctly in Windows and works just fine with anyother program.  Wether it's WMP, Call of Duty, Battlefield Vietnam or anything in between, it all works fine.  I noticed it yesterday when I was in a M-16 and pulled out of the VH and I heard very littlesound.  I ignored it for the time being becuase I we were under atttack.  When it was all over I listened to the friendly GV's in front of me and could barely hear their engines.  I turned my head with the HAT switch and then I could hear the engines and them firing from the front speaker.

So from here I do not know what to do.

Thanx for the help, and if anyone else has any ideas or has the same problem please let me know.

On some cards if sound accerleration is not set to full you will not get the surround action. I had that problem with the onboard sound on my system. Don't know if this is the problem just tossing it out.

Also run the speaker calibrator in the creative mixer if you have not done that. What speakers are you using?
