Joystick trouble

I have no x axis input on my joystick.
I have a CH flightstick no hat
AMD K6-2 350
EPOX mb 100mhz
64 meg ram 100pc
SB equinox audio pci sound card
Graphics Blaster Riva TNT 16 meg AGP video.
The joystick works ok in windows and other games like battlezone II. I have no x axis movement in your joystick calibration. I do notice nonsmooth movement on the other axis. Any ideas for quick fix until my USB sidewinder arrives in the mail.

This may be obvious, but is "poll with interupts" unchecked in your joystick setup in Win9x control panel?

Thx Jedman
I checked it is enabled or checked, under advanced settings, port driver assignments.
What does this option enabled do??

It's fixed
the only i have done that make sence is uninstalling aces and reinstalling aces.
I had to make sure all components were uninstalled before reinstalling. I tried this 3 times finally it started working.
thx for the help.
