been there done that. One of the larger R/C plane makers is located here in Phila. My bro went to school with the the owners son, and we used to get free planes to build. One of the first U: control R/C's "The Ringmaster"they adapted for "cable free" R/C I put a Fox .40 ( if my memory is correct) in it, Mid wing, this plane was fast as SHEET! This plane would go vertical till it was almost out of sight. One day on take off, soon as the wheels left the tarmac, I pulled it straight up, Unfortunately the whole tail section kept going horizontal,,, LOL nothing like seeing this plane screeching towards the sun, as I could do nothing about it.
I built a 1/4 scale Piper cub after that, while my bro got into the twin ducted fans. WAY too expensive for me.
A guy In our club had a P-51 two stroker, what a freckin' awsome plane, Fast sleek, and the sound of them 2-stokers is really kewl, one day he just flew it to the envelope of the radio frequency, and she just kept flying straight, they found it 4 miles away. It crashed threw the Plumbers Union hall roof, threw the ceiling and broke a toilet in half.
Ahhh, those were the days. And yes, I've had my ribbon cut off more than I like to admit:(
