Advanced Base Capture - 201
« on: January 12, 2005, 01:39:00 AM »
1) Always fly 2.5 sectors in 100% fuel F4U-1D's so you can loiter over the area for 2 mins and 23 seconds before you have to rtb and ditch 4 miles from the nearest friendly base. Always climb to 18,000 feet before you dive in to drop your bombs on the area beside the town.

2) Always begin an attack if troops are not available within 3 sectors. Remember - it is more important to have as many people tied up on this important mission than to have them available to actually capture or defend bases.

3) Always send the new guys in to kill the ack. Tell them to dive in across the center of the field (especially large fields and ports) and line up straight at as many acks as possible on the first run and not worry about the acks on the outside of the field - you'll get someone else to get those difficult ones later.

4) Always have at least 4 people drop all their ordnance on the vh simultaneously, preferrably at a low angle of attack. Never save any ordnance for pesky vehicles or in case the vh comes up again after 15 minutes.

5) Always expend all of your .50 caliber ammunition to take down a few town buildings. Always attack the same building as everyone else. Never let Lancasters or B-24's drop almost all of the town first and clean up the stray remaining buildings after they drop.

6) Always dive in as fast as you can with everyone else from 18,000 feet to vulch a little Hurricane on the runway. Never stay high to engage the enemy fighters otw from the closest airfield and do not attempt to engage them before they get to the field.

7) Always scream for troops on the country channel after your ammunition and ordnance is gone and you're getting ready to rtb. Never tell them about the flack panzers in the town - which should always have 10 or 12 buildings still standing.

8) Always steer a CV directly at a base and as close as possible to the purple arrowheads near the base. Do not turn the task force so all the large guns can fire on the town and base. Point it directly toward the base so only half of the guns can be brought to bear.

9) After the Cruiser has been sunk and the CV is on fire, ask for help on the country channel, immediately give up command and fly somewhere else. Always give up the location of a cv in transit by launching from it and flying 1 sector to an enemy base.

10) Last, but not least, always kill the barracks and ordnance immediately upon arriving at the target base.

Heh, you must read the same flight manual my countrymen do.

you forgot

11) Always call in the goon telling them you have CAP, remain there vulching but don't tell that there's a lone LALA doing goon sweeps 5k off-shore.

12) If you do see the goon under attack then check 6 him 20 times to make sure he knows he's about to be shot down. If you're really good you can tell him which way to break.

13) If you hear a goon asking for a sit rep then totally ignore him and keep your concentration on the vulch it's more important.

14) If you do manage to capture the base then don't worry about re-supply just jump in the next 50 plane horde as your presence is vital and the next capture wont work with 49 planes. You can always scream on country channel that the base needs re-supplying.

8b-section101) Never take ord down at the field you are sending the CV to or the surrounding bases. Everyone knows you just want to use the CV to vulch and furball from. The enemy understands this and will not send bombers.

Rolex, there are two time tested tactics that can be added to your list:

A) Put newbies in a goons and have them drop below 800 feet agl or drop troops over the runway.

B) Drop troops right in front of immobilized tanks so that the pintle gun has a clear field of fire as they run to the map room.

Or they drop troops from 18K, by the time troops hit the ground the VH and Town buildings have rebuilt.

..be sure and drag the last la7 over town to fight so he will have good view of the goon inbound....always drop 2k of ord on flak outside of vh for kill...do not hit vh or the flak wont come back and kill you as you attempt a straffe run on turret.
