3D modeling - designing for the new TE
« on: January 16, 2005, 07:29:23 PM »
Are there any rough guidlelines for poly counts for buildings structures? Will there be a LOD system set up for buildings like there is on the b24 (only visable example I could find in-game)?

And if one goes about designing an object, should one construct a burnt out one/destroyed one also?

Just curious - 3d modeling bug has bitten....lmao, so forgive my Noobisms if I get any terms misconstrued.

Also - a 3d forum might be a good thing to have once the new TE is out and players can design objects for it.

LoDs: Yes, there will be LoDs.

I remember Hitech saying it would be something like [name][####]

####=distance

I believe I read somewhere that you do need to create the destroyed object.

After a rocky start, AH-terrains already has a 3D forum. It's empty and we lost most of our user base/files after a server crash but we are slowly coming back. :)

Yeah there should be a destroyed model for each structure.

Question is should there be partialy destroyed models as well?

Also what objects will be destructable in the future? Bridges? ;)

I'll have to look at it again. First time I tried it - it corrupted all of the views when ever I tried to move something. Learning on Max right now.

From what I understand - Any program that exports X files can be used.
