Born within borders of the so called nation of Poland which i guess makes me polish.
Now i guess i'm supposed to show pride or something.... eh... yeah, like dude, we rule !!
My country is defined by borders drawn on the globe by the tyrants at the time it happend. my language is what happend to be the most comfy for my parents to speak, and culture happend to be local to the place i grew up.
Then i learned history, germans showed their country pride by killing anything other then germans, poles showed theirs by killing whatever germans they could find right after the wwii and in number of other occasions, same happend between russia and poland, russia and germany, france and england, france and germany, and this goes on and on. All in the name of god and country pride.
Having lived outside of my "country" and now having second "country" i've come to the following conclusions:
I know my countryman i like, i know ones i can't stomach.
I know Germans i like more then poles, i know americans i like more then poles.
Yet in the name of patriots and country pride i should overlook all the shortcomings of my countrymates and stand by them, even if they are wrong.
Well, f__k that.
If anyone wants to have a little polish flag burning party, let me know, i'll bring the gasoline and the lighter.
I am human, and who i am depends on how i live my life, not with crocked government issued me a passport.
So i'm proud to be a human and judge all not by their country but but how they live their lifes, that's all.
