If you've got the US insignia showing over the RAF symbol, you got a bad res file.

If you delete the P51B .res files and the P51B folders from the cache folders, it'll redownload the P51Bs and fix everything.

Not sure how that happened - mine have always been OK.

Ah, okay.  I had it correct when I first got it and then it downloaded and update and it had gained the U.S. insignia.

Well it redownloaded and it is the wrong one again.  Might want to check with HTC and see if they have the correct one.

Hi Oboe

Many thanks for your response.  I was an Army pilot that flew all the animals, Beavers, Otters and Bird Dogs.  Mostly did forward aircontroller work in Southeast Asia back in the '60's in a Bird Dog.

As for the skins, I have downloaded the skins and the plane I got which was tagged as 112RAF was not the plane you showed.  It was a metal skinned Mustang with no national insignia.

Maybe my PC has gone crazy.  Could you check online and see what you come up with when you choose the 112RAF Mustang?

Don't believe any of these 112RAF Mustangs got Malcomb Hoods.  The squadron transitioned into D models in Italy later in the war.

Again, great work all you chaps are doing.  Keep it up.

Hi Greebo

I have some info on a B-24 with a shark mouth.  This one is a B24J, 90th Bomb Group, 5th AF, SWPA.  Has shark mouth and skull and crossbones, red striped on runner/fin.

You looking for a pic of this one?

I fly your RN F6F regularly.  Excellent work mate.

I got the very same problem.
It was cured by deleting the cache folder in AH directory.

Hi Staffo

Many thanks for the email.  I am not very PC literate.

I see a lot of cache folders in the HTC directory.  Which one should I delete?  There are a number of P51b's.

Many thanks for your advice.

Hi Majors -

Delete all the p51b subfolders in the cache directory; then go to the skins directory and delete all the p51b .res files (I have 6 - p51b1.res - p51b6.res; same names as the cache folders).

This will clean out your p51b cache and force redownload of all 6 skins.

Let us know how it works out - sullie363 above is indicating there is a problem on HTCs end; so if it doesn't work for you either, we;ve got to get HTC involved.

Sullie, find any P51B folders in your CACHE directory and kill them as well as the .res file again.

Hi Greebo

I scanned some B24 info for you.  The scans didn't come out that well but you can see what the markings are on the planes.  Have a sheet of USA B24's and another with some RAF B24's.  The particular one you are looking for is included.  This particular book has quite a lot of all marks of the B24 markings.

Hmmmmm.  Note now that I can answer emails on here but I cannot post any attachments.

So, if you send me an email address, I will email the pics to you.

Oboe, I did as you advised and now have the RAF Mustang.  Many thanks.

Greebo

One more thing, later in the war, they painted up "formation aircraft" for the large groups to form on.  Some of these have the wildest paint jobs one could imagine.

If you want, I could send you some pics of some of these B24's.

Sorry for all the messages.

Will clam up now.

Majors, you can post a picture on here, but you must upload it first.

Saw, another AHer, has a site up that allows this.  http://www.onpoi.net/ah  Upload your picture there, then you can post it here.

Just take the image URL and place it inbetween two markers like these

Or, you can click the little IMG button at the top of the reply screen and paste the URL there.

Sent you my email address Majors and thanks again, any stuff will be most appreciated.

I briefly considered doing a formation ship (as below), but seemed to recall a post Skuzzy made about what would be acceptable as a skin. To paraphrase it was something like "that B-24 covered in purple dots isn't acceptable even though it was a WW2 plane." A skin has to be both historically correct and representative of a combat plane I believe. Might be fun to do one anyway though.

Hi Mate

I have some much wilder ones than that.  Will scan them and send them to you too.

Take care
