The Beacon is your connection rating.
Green is wonderful
Yellow is starting to really suck
Red is sucking badly prepare for a disco.

If it is anything but green I suggest relogging and hope for a steadier connect. Or try to the alt verio route(closed).  This really isn't closed but is an alternate route to connect.

In 1.04 the Beacon light was changed so it now should be turned off (black) when connection is good. As connection worsens it becomes green->yellow->red.

My impression of it is that it is now more sensitive. Before you really had problems when the beacon shifted from green, now you may see it blink green or even yellow a little without noticing anything irregular.

TY guys, mine is grey almost all the time and sometimes its green, with 1 flash to yellow so far. So I take it that I'm fine with respect to ping!
