Poker Night
« on: January 23, 2005, 03:49:04 PM »
Last night, my next-door neighbor and I decided to visit a cardroom. Standard stuff... Holdem, Blackjack... tables were 3/6, 6/12, 9/18, etc...

I'd been there about an hour and was doing okay, and then about two tables away I heard the commotion. I looked over and this older gentleman, probably 65+ or so, was obviously in the middle of some sort of seizure.

Amid the shouts of call 911 the moving of tables to make room for the stretcher that was coming, I watched as three people administered CPR.

Meanwhile, the dealer at my table kept right on dealing.

It was all just so surreal. I noticed a guy quietly watching the "show" while he consumed his pizza.

After one round, I got up and walked away for a couple of rounds, but then came back. They asked if I was in for the next round, and I told them that I wasn't going to play until the crisis was past. I guess I embarrassed the table, because at that point they decided to "take a break".

Anyway... it was just so bizarre.

No word on if the man survived, but he was breathing when he left. My guess is that he suffered a stroke.

Not necessary classy but thanks... I just can't concentrate on a game while someone is possibly dying fifteen feet away from me.

In Vegas they would have carted him off posthaste to prevent people from doing exactly what you did. You did the right thing.

Yeah, so speaking of Diplomacy... Sandy, what say you jump in and take over CSA for Reschke (he just resigned) in the Oclub_imp game?

And just so I can be on-topic... that is pretty messed up.  The other folks at the table must've just been going along with what the dlr was doing, I can't imagine anyone feeling OK about playing through that.

I could probably do that. Of course, I haven't paid that much attention since Turkey got wiped out.

That'd be awesome Sandman...I'll put it to a vote and let ya know.  Apparently there needs to be a unanimous yes vote by the remaining powers for a previous player to take over another power in the same game.
