This thing is fantastic. WTG Apple!

I wonder, what is the range and bandwidth for bluetooth? If its enough I could easily see this as an ideal platform for home integration, its small, good looking, and quiet enough to place in the living room and if it has at least devent DVD audio/video quality it could be the primary DVD player for a  small home theater.   From there you could easily run a bluetooth printer and possibly even a seperate bluetooth PC monitor to do word processing somewhere else and control it with wireless mouse/keyboard etc. all while other family members play DVD movies or music or surf the net on the main living room system.

Prety cool.  This is exactly what home PCs need, small, cheap, pretty all in one solutions that are simple.

Now I love to build my own PCs but in many ways its kind of stone age if you consider the mess of wires, cards, boards, fans, heatsinks, RAM etc etc of your common ATX pc...

I really like this apple approach of modern new designs.

I totaly agree wtih you Grun. If i like what i see when i set one up for my dad, ill get one for myself that i can integrate with my B&O as a mediaplayer and mail/web browser.

The range on the bluetooth is about 30 feet i think, cause i havent measured the range on my powerbook. 30 feet/10 meters sounds about right anyway when i connect the mac to my SE phone to control it.

Nilsen,

It seems very resposive with the 512MB of RAM. Now that I've seen how to pop open the case with a putty knife, I should have got the 256MB version and bought a 1GB DIMM and installed it myself. Still, I installed World of Warcraft and it ran fine with 512MB.

The interface for the OS is very slick. It'll take a little time to get use to the differences between it and XP, but it's not too bad.

Next I need to hook it to my 50" Panny TV and see how she looks. Oh and it's whisper quiet except for the CD drive, which makes a litlle bit of noise when accessing disks.

Is it "fast enough" for someone used to using a mid to high end PC?  I'm considering getting one, probably just get the 512 meg upgrade and maybe the wireless networking as well, but if it's slow I'll hate it and wouldn't even be able to pawn it off on the wife.
Everyone I know, goes away, in the end.

eagl,

I currently have a AMD 3400+, 1GB PC with WinXP. I find the Mac Mini just as resposive for everything I do similar to on the PC. Except for gaming of course. I've had iTuners, Firefox, iChat (AIM) running then just fired up WoW. The game loaded promptly and except for some disk caching for a few seconds getting into the game, it ran fine. No, it's not a high-end PC or G5 system but it's doing eveything I want it to with-out a problem.

It makes a great secondary system or someone who doesn't do a lot of gaming. Oh, did I mention how SMALL it is. :)
