Calling Natedog
« on: January 25, 2005, 11:18:51 AM »
Hi Mate

Remember me from Warbirds.  Looks like I am getting everything here that I was pleading for in WB.

Missing one important little airplane though.  With all the armor and vehicles in AH, really need a P-39 for low level jabo and armor busting role.

Any plans sometime down the road?

Also, got the B-24, can the B-25 be far behind.  Used to bust up a lot of real estate with the B25H in WB.

Keep up the good work mate.

Cheers

P-39 would be garbage for armor busting.  The M4 37mm cannon is HE, has low RoF and low muzzle velocity.

You'd do much better in an Il-2 or Hurricane Mk IId.

Hi Mate

Sure good bird for busting acks, etc. on airfields.  Very fast little jabo.  In an early war scenario, will be the fastest plane out.

If you going to have WWII aircraft, may as well have the most that you can.

Cheers

Oh, I'm all for adding new aircraft.  I just didn't want you to get in your shiny new P-39 when they add it and try to kill MBTs, fail and complain about it.

The P-39 is a very good plane at low altitude, especially for ripping 109's in half. Tank busting, on the other hand, isn't one of its strong points.

Hi Mates

Many thanks for the emails, both pro and con.

At lower altitudes this little plane is a pretty good dogfighter.  Seems as tho, in WB, we busted up a lot of Me109's in the little bird.

Also, toting a 500lb bomb, it's fairly lethal.  Might bust a tank with that.  But, you are correct, maybe not so much as a tank buster as a real fast jabo.  Like I said, in early war scenario, it will run away from anything flying.  And, stand it's own against them too.

This whole thing is most something between Natedog and me anyway.  I harassed him for years for different type planes and skins we never got in WB.  We got most of them here.

Didn't mean to start up any controversy.

Again thanks for the reponses.

It would be a fine addition but as Karnak said its no tank buster.

I suggested in another thread that the they add a D, N and a Q.

It woulld fit in from the pac, med to ostfront...

Hi Wotan

Thanks for the comments.

As to destroying at PT with a P39, I was in a PT yesterday and got aced by a Spitfire.  P39 would have a 37MM, two .50's and 4 .30's.  I have killed PT's in a Mark I Spit.  Surely the P39 could do the same.

Since they dumbed down the guns in the PT and made them very soft, the are very few planes in AH that can't sink one.  I would imagine the SBD might even have a chance of taking one down.

Oh well, let's see if Nate reads this.  Maybe he can add this little plane to his list.  Got an early model P38 coming down the pike, this plane fits in with that one.

Thanks again all for the responses.

Cheers

Exactly.  P39 would make hash out of one.

However, even though wood in AH, guns have been really reduced.  When they first came out, you could clear the skies with all the guns on one.

Never mind.

Thanks for all the responses.  I will look forward to hearing from Nathan at some point in time.

Signing off.

Maybe we could get the P39 loadout like the IL2 series, alternating AP and HE rounds in the hub cannon.
