ok every one moan about the hangers getting bombed so what would happen if the airfields were like a 1940's RAF fighter field?

Would this make things harder?

Roger I'd say yes but I still think they need to get rid of the end of runway spawns like they have now.  I'd also like to see the cities moved further away from the main field.  Heck they could get rid of the cities and just make the main base be what needs to be captured.

They could make gun emplacements in bunkers on the field in addition to what's already there.  Defense of the field would require you to man field guns for fighters, gun emplacements in bunkers (anti troop guns and anti vehicle guns) for troops and vehicles and try to up fighters and ground attack aircraft for incoming fighters, vehicles and troops.  Could even implement mine layers.

Getting rid of the end of runway spawns would help to an extent with the vulching.  You would have to have the ability to select which hardstand or hangar you want to take off from to help with the vulching issues.  If the fields were larger it would be fairly hard to keep all fighters down because of the dispersed hangars and hard stands.  This might bring in the bomber formations in large numbers to get maximum coverage on a field.  By capturing the field itself and not the city would also concentrate the battles.

Barracks would now have duel purpose also, base protection and base capturing.  The enemy could release troops at the edge of the field and the troops would fight their way to the HQ or control tower.  If the bases barracks were up then the base defense team would immediately spawn to counter the incoming ground troops or airborne infantry.  If you get the barracks on the initial strike this would knock out this defensive threat though.

I'd also add atleast 1 or 2 more vehicle hangars to this type of field.  Maybe 1 or 2 directly at the field and a unmarked detachment in a near by village.  This would give the gvs a bit more of a chance to counter an attack.  If the correct village is destroyed then that detachment would no longer be available.  Means people would have to be scouting for incoming armor and relaying this information to the attack squadrons flying in the area.  This might even bring in large ground attack missions.  With the anti aircraft support vehicles, troop carriers, and large formations of tanks and other new armored vehicles (mine layers and mobile arties).
