Author Topic: Skuzzy Please help! Pedals stopped working!!!!!!!!!! (Read 447 times)

I use the right toe brake on my CH Pro Pedals as the right brake, I went to land and depressed both brakes to stop and my plane went violently to the left. I went to the input and saw the toe brake wasnt registering. I exited the game and went to the CH Programing software for my pedals and the right brake wasnt responding! I calibrated i dont know how many times. Please help!!!! The pedals are very new about 3-4 months!

Recommend you contact CH... if everything else works fine on the pedals and the programming software/Windows recognizes everything ok, it has to be broken.

In the meantime you can program the left pedal to act as the left and the right. Granted, you won't be able to control the aircraft on the ground as easily but at least you won't veer off the runway.

I had same problem, wrecked a perfeclty good virtual p51 when i swerved off the runway while braking. The ground technicians inspected the wreckage and found that my brake wire had been cut -- some say it was a bullet, some say it was sabotage.

I removed the pedals from the wreckage, opened them with a spam can opener, and found that one wire had come loose and got severed by the pedal movement. using us navy soldering skills and common garage soldering equipment (soldering iron, electrical tape), I stripped 1/4" of the insulator off each end of the severed wire, soldered them together, and taped the exposed conductor. I then positioned the wire so it would not get snagged again and taped it and the other wires to keep them safe. The hardest part was getting the pedals back together with the cylindrical pedal roller in place. This took some patience, but within an hour the pedals were repaired and back in action.

The same thing happened to me!I took the risk of invalidating my warranty and opened up the pedal box.the wires to the brake pots are very thin,and are maintained in place,by sliding them into a tight - and very sharp edged - slot on a lug, I recently moved my computor and CH pedals upstairs and on setting them up I found the right brake did not work!What had happened is that in lifting them upstairs,somehow the wires had streched against these sharp edges,severing the fine wire!

The solution was to repair the wire,I was succesful but I would not recommend doing this yourself,as your problem may be different and you will invalidate the warranty,once the seal is broken.

I would contact CH.

Oops,just noticed Bockos post.He's right,very fiddly,but the solution is simple.Only go ahead if you feel confident,I now have no warranty,but feel i can cope with most faults I will encounter with the CH setup.

Not impressed with the shoddy wiring though,on what needs to be a hardwearing unit.

how do they know if the seal is broken

On my pedals their is a seal over one of the screw holes.Once removed they know you've tampered with the unit.Maybe your pedals don't have a seal.

I removed mine with a hairdryer,just in case.But I won't be putting it back,the repair sticks out like a sore thumb.

Go to the CH Forums (http://www.ch-hangar.com) and post a message about the problem...you'll get help in no time.

Make sure to include describe the problem completely and in detail, including OS, Game vs. USB hardware and chipset, CH Control Manager version, and steps taken to discover the problem.

The forums are moderated by some very knowlegeable and helpfull people. Usually, if they can't solve your problem, its due to hardware failure, and they will provide you with an RMA and/or other instructions to send your hardware for factory service.

Turn-around time and satisfaction are excellent.

On the bottom of the big peice that pivots back anod forth, that the brakes attach to( its a grey peice in the center) the wires are held together (so they wont seperate) by a little slot, turns out there it was "over stuffed" and it ripped a wire. the wire was so thin i stripped it with my finger nail and used to soldering skillz i learned last year in electronics class and soldered it back together. then i wrapped it in electrical tape and closed it up!

you don't happen to have a picture of the finished product do you?
I am trying to figure out where the black and brown wires attach in mine
