Battle of Kasserine Frame 3 Results
« on: January 22, 2005, 11:04:56 AM »
Numbers were much more balance this final frame. Thanks 412th for helping out and switching sides, 99 Allied pilots and 95 Axis pilots. :)

Much to my surprise both sides successfully defended their supply truck convoys south near V3 and A16.

If I did my math right.

Score

Allied pilots shot down:
44 Single engine AC – 440 points
37 Twin engine AC (ouch!) – 555 points
Attack Port 8 ~ 40% down – 80 points
Defend Port 33 – 80 points
Total 1155 points

Axis pilots shot down:
50 Single engine AC – 500 points
8 Twin engine AC – 120 points
Attack port 33 ~ 60% down 120 points
Defend Port 8 – 120 points
Total 860 points

Congratulations to Baly1 of the FATE Squadron for earning the Ace Status and shooting down 5 Aircraft. :)

Attendance

Allied:
325th Checkertail Clan 4-6 (4)
56th Fighter Group 7-10 (5)
Airmageddon Squad 4-6 (*6)
Arabian Knights 11-15 (11)
Birds of Prey 11-15 (13)
Nightmares VMF 101 16-20 (21)
Rouge Squadron 4-6 (6)
The Damned 4-6 (7)
UKNIGHTED 4-6 (5)
332nd Flying Mongrels 7-10 (13) *2 pilots flew with the Airmageddon Squad
412th Braunco Mustangs 4-6 (8)

Axis:
68th Lighting Lancers 21-25 (24)
Grave Diggers 4-6 (3)
FATE 7-10 (13)
C Hawks 7-10 (8)
Marine Air Wing 7-10 (8)
USMC 11-15 (14)
Most Wanted 4-6 (5)
III/Jabostaffel 7-10 (8)
Shillelagh 4-6 (6)
Sick Puppies 4-6 (6)

Every squad was within their limit except the 332nd and they had 2 pilots fly with another squad that was low in numbers. No penalty points to the Allied or Axis sides for having too many pilots in a squad. Well done gents!

The severe loss of the 110’s cost the Axis the frame despite their better job of attacking the port.

I was surprised to find that neither side destroyed any convoys so no points were gained or lost.

well run and a lot of fun.  Kudos to Nightmares and Airmeg for their excellent escort work, and to AKs and all the other defenders for ripping a giant hole in the ranks of the enemy attackers.  I am impressed that the LW could do any damage to the targets with those squads defending them.  It must have been a helluva fight.

Congrats on the win Shubie, it was an intense fight all around, that's for sure.

Those 110s weren't supposed to go in Nekkid, but their Fighter Sweep was distracted.

And we sent at least 3 strikes against that damn convoy lol.

I am hearing their is a bug with those trucks. Saw a pic of a 500lb bomb with near hit and it did not take out any trucks.

Something we will have to look at with this terrain.

I'd love to blame the Terrain, but to tell you the truth, I'm not sure any of our guys even spotted the Convoy.

Well, there is definitely something up with the convoys. Here is the shot that DD was referring to...

We'll be looking into it as soon as we can. All apologies to anyone whose mission was affected by this.

Back in October, a couple of patches ago, you could get truck/train/barge destroyed messages without the vehicles being destroyed graphically.  Maybe it wasn't fixed; I haven’t retested since then but it sure made it tough to kill all the vehicles.
Easy in-game again.

Having been on the other end of the "110 in the headlights" equation, you can get a lot of planes shot down in short order.  Can't run, can't turn, your only hope is an HO.
