Hello, I'm still new to this game and was wondering if somebody could help me out. What is the best fighter to learn on? I'm not sure which one I was trying last night but seemed like every time I took off My tail wing would rip off ne me. When that did not happen and I would go to try and land I could not get my landing gear to drop I know I raised it up, have that maped to my joystick. I probley could use some suggestions on mapping my joystick. It is a "Logitech extreme 3D pro" with twist. so far all ive done is try to fly offline as I dont want to get in the way till I get better.

Blade,

Welcome! Come by the Training Arena (TA for short) and ask for a hand. The official trainers are in the "Aces High II Training Corps" squad and there are lots of other players who unofficially donate their time to helping others learn. Also check out netAces.org for lots of info on learning the game.

Your gear may not have come down due to speed. You have to slow down to under 150 I think for gear to come down.

The spit IX or NIK1, or even the F6F are good planes to learn with. All are pretty stable in the air and are forgiving of mistakes.

Going to the training area is not as exciting as flying in the Main arena, but you'll learn alot in the training area.

Gear will go down at 200 or less. However you will lose that gear at 200 if you aint careful

Spit IX is a good plane to start in. Spit V is a good plane but cant run. Better learn a few things before you get in something that you cant escape in. Or maybe thats not a bad thing if you like to fight. Who knows. :)

Be happy to help you if you like anytime either in the MA or TA. Im not an AH trainer and Im not a great pilot by any strecth. I'd be glad to help tho.

I think flying offline before you sign up is a good thing, I did it for awhile before I signed up. Lets you get used to the various planes and flight model, along with keyboard and 'dot' commands. Definately visit http://www.netaces.org and I also suggest downloading and reading the AH2 Help file available here: http://www.hitechcreations.com/frameset1.html?download.html
You may need to desensatize the rudder input so you don't input rudder when you don't want to. I'd learn the default commands before I started changing them around also, you don't want to deactivate a random keystroke when you change keymappings.
