I have to agree that while looking better than the first animated water attempt, i have switched it off.

It is MUCH easier to judge altitude with a glance without animated water than with.
Diving towards the animated water it looks like a solid colour panel giving you absolutely no depth perception at all.

I have yet to try a boat so it may in fact be great for that, but flying? forget it.

Oh using an X800.

I doubt this is due to the gfx card. I haven't noticed any problems with exiting to desktop and back. I'll try it out and see if that is a  problem now (my new system is, well, pretty new ;) so I haven't done alot of alt-tabbing yet).

I'm guessing crashes are more often related to CPU and memory/pagefile issues. Why am I still talking? I don't know much about these rocketscientist thingies.

Yah it is rocket science to me too.
I have a feelling it is video driver issues.. . .  maybe.

are you Usng the standard Nvidia drivers or are you running those Omega drivers that everyones been yaping about?
I downloaded them but didnt instal,,, I'm not sure but I dont think the support the 6800.. . seems like the Nvidia driver postdate any Omega ones..

What do they do (Omega) anyways.
And will they help my video card?

Also Is there anyway to disable teh windows keys on the keyboard?

Omega's current release Nvidia driver is 61.77, and wont support your 6800.  The official Nvidia release is 66.97 and supports the 6xxx series cards.  There have been quite a few issues with those drivers, but you will have to use them.  Zer0point has a "modified" version of the 66 series drivers.

Check out this thread, might help you.

I disable the WIndows key on the keyboard with some hot glue and a small piece of rubber hose.  Pop the key off, dollop some hot glue on it, slide the rubber hose over it, then press the key back on after is has set.
No more Windows key problem.  :D

Thats funny, I've been using the the Omega 61.77 driver with my 6800 since I got it in November. :)

The nVidia 61.77 driver doesnt support the 6800's but the Omega modified one does.

Ah, my bad.  I knew the Nvidia "official release" 61.77 didnt work with the 6xxx cards, and someone else posted the Omega version didnt support their 6600GT.  I just assumed the support was the same for both.

You know, your right, I looked at the readme and it only says "added support for 6800" it says nothing about the 6600's. Wonder why they left them out? Gotta be a lot of folks with 6600's out there.

Your right, but I can't live without it on.  I'll have to pass on the fancy water for now.

Just curious why you need AF enabled?  Skuzzy has posted more than once it doesnt work well with AH, or at best does nothing for you in the game.  At worst it can cause problems.  I've tried it both ways and honestly cant find a real difference, except every so often I get lockups with AF enabled.  If you feel you need it so badly, the Nvidia control panel lets you setup a profile for different games.  Set up one for AH with your AF disabled, and it will only be disabled when you run AH.  Simple.

It improves visual quality noticably, less "noise" in the terrain/textures.

I could drop it in a heartbeat, though, not THAT important.
