Ever seen those movies with hundreds of bombers dronning over Europe with the contrails behind them.

Wouldn't it be neat to have a contrail layer above 25k?

Just a thought

Actually aren't contrails depenedent on the temerature and not a specific alt?
I.e contrails can be seen at lower/higher levels depending on temp/water vapor at the given alt?

contrails would be a nice add to the game as well and adverse weather conditions that would hinder bomb drops.. make it more interesting..

Contrails / woner why they are refered to as Contrails? Could it be that they are Condensation Trails? Perhapes the result of the heat of the exhaust being combined with the colder temps of the Air around it no?

I thought that Air based missions/operations were scrubbed when adverse weather was in the forcast? Remember D-Day for example?

Yeah Kev, they are temperature/moisture dependent, but just for eye candy they could probably throw in a variable with each map. One day 18k, next 24k.

Lye-EL, we have maps with radar as well as range icons, i dont think it would be a disadvantage to anyone.

Mugzeee, im no expert, but I think you've got it about right.

Cheers

Mugzee not completely correct.  For the most part they were though.  With the introduction of new radar devices overcast or blind bombing was possible by the 8th Air Force in 1943.  Systems used had their limitations and the accuracy wasn't as great as day light bombing raids but they didn't totally scrub bombing missions.  Targets that could be engaged were picked one by one and analyzed to see if they could properly identify the targets using the radar systems currently available.

Well varrying weather conditions would be nice but I would settle for some #$^%&$&#^ CLOUDS!!!!!
In AH1 I loved flying my bombers through the clouds. They made nice screen shots too. :D

not only that but if you are spotted by fighters you can run for the clouds.. would increase ones survivability

You got a point there, I forgot about that little part of the game.  Hmmm...I wonder how much 'puter it would take if all the eye candy requests were implemented? I just put my 1.4 GHz out to pasture so I could play the latest games but I'm sure there is a fair amount of older systems playing now. Anybody got any ideas?
