Bomber Drone Convergance

I regularly get 6shot at from d600-d1000, and my drone's tailguns clearly cross at a nice effective d300 or so. What I get is just one tailgun out of all the guns on 3 planes getting back to the d800 bandit that is giving me a 20mm enema.

I would just love a dot command to set the drone convergance range.  No reason the drone gunners would shoot 400 yards short of the target, "109 5oclock low"- the drones see they are shooting at something d800 not 400.

.dconverge 800 would give them 20mm d800 shooters something to think about as they get nickle & dimed by dozens of 50s hits.  At that range, it probably wont take a wing off with one burst, but the  bandit wont sit in relative saftey anymore. Maybe 800 is high, but 650 would help tons.

Yes it is Spray and Pray, but the alternative is Spray and Be Ineffective.  Any bandit worth his salt will try not to run up to d200 and get tailgunned, when HE is the one with 20mm and HE choses his distance.

I like them as they are now, honestly. If nothing else, those cannon rounds were supposed to be scoring hits out there, thats one of the reasons the German used em against buff formations.

Sounds to me like you want lazer fire from the buff formations.

I took a B24 not too long ago, its incredibly easy to score kills unless you have more than 2 fighters on you imho.

laser fire... no

but why are drone shooting where  I'm not aiming

Wouldn't  a drone gunner aim at a plane, rather than aiming 1200' from the target.   I don't want auto fire, I would like to tell the drone what range to converge at.  I still have to lead and elevate to hit that d800 with 50s, I just want the other planes to shoot where I'm shooting. Sure, B24s work great, at least 2 pair 50s at any angle from a single plane... 2 pair with relativly no initial convergance seperation on your 1 plane. Lanc's 303's make poor partners to the tail 50s past d250, really need the other lanc's tail 50s to not converge half way to d600 target.

As for cannons, hispanos work great at d600 on someones six, but that d600 will result in the slugs going more like 700-800 by the time they reach the 300kt away from you target.

Shooting 50s to the rear,  they get a ho / distance closing benifit- they only have to go maybe 650-700 to reach that d800 target approaching the firing point at 350kt.     A few 50s at d800 wont blow a wing off, but stay there and you will get rained on.

The germans didn't  'use them against buffs out there', they used them on everything everywhere.  What did FW190s use against Ponys at d300...  maybe cannons eh.

I digress-  I just want the drones to shoot where I'm shooting,  at least where I tell them to meet my shots.

(all these numbers are from the hip, I don't want to get the slide rule out for Time of Flight closing & egressing ballistics, but inflated to show the concept)
