I've only killed shane twice, both times were on the same night in tour 58.  I can't see any stats that show shane shooting me down.  Just lucky, or I don't fly enough?

I shot up his flack panzer.

The a bit later, I saw this L-Gay-7 on the tail of a friendly. The LA7 and I were going different directions, I dove down, pretended I was going low to avoid the HO, and at the last second, pulled my 190A8 nose up and removed the LA7's port wing at point blank range.

I saw that the kill said Shane.  I immediately opened channel 200 (I always fly with 200 off) to see how much whining would go on about the cheap HO.  Nothing, so not wanting to be ignored, I even sent him a salute hoping he would see that as an insult.  Nothing.  He had been complaining earlier when AKOwl had shot him down a couple of times that night, and I hoped that an AK HO'ing him would stir up a bit of conversation.  But he ignored me.  So I turned off channel 200.

But I did fly for a while with a big smirk on my face.  :D

And people wonder why I fly with 200 off?  For the peace of not knowing or caring what is said on that worthless channel :aok

i have only one "standard" -  honest effort.

as for the golf.. give me some time, I just took it up and started giving it some "honest effort."  :D

here's a perfect analogy:  i suck at golf being new to it and all, so should i start giving myself gimmes on 10 foot putts?  should i get more than one mulligan? can i move my ball from bunkers without penalty? can i ignore a lost ball and just re-hit? can i use an "illegal ball/club" since it's not "competition"? can i put my ball on a tee in the fairway?

i mean it's just a game, no?  why should i try hard to do it "right" when i could possibly score in the low 70's using all the easy outs above and have "fun" doing so?

The clubs they make these days are cheating.

The driver i borrow to play with would be better suited to clubbing whales to death.

And it wieghs less than the ball.

I've got in my room right here a set of 60 year old woods. heavy as hell.

my great grandfather used them to play for Oxford University and later to represent England.

playing with these old clubs is so much more difficult than my mates new set, its not even funny.

The new stuff does all the work for you, kinda like the La7. :D

.....*click*....oh yeah, you do fly the La7 dont you shane?

surely flying a P40 or Spit1 would force you to use some honest effort once more, but instead you choose to swan around in the fastest, most ridiculously uber plane there is.

you want them to give some honest effort, yet you dont think you should be giving ny yourself.

You're too good for that now?

Answer me honestly, does flying the LA7 against the MA masses offer you any challenge whatsoever these days?

if 99% of us suck so bad you may as well fly the IL2, you'd still win with a little 'honest effort'.

i dont dislike you at all, infact we have similar outlooks.  like me you say what you think instead of sugar coating it. would rather piss someone off with the truth than keep em sweet with some BS.

but you are a total ******* :D

you don't see the pros using 60 year old hickorys... :D

the la7 is like a 7 iron, versatile, unlike say the lob wedge that is a spit5 or the fw that is a driver. :aok

besides, i'm only doing my part to help get the la7 perked.  ;)

Shane..using your Golf analogy here...let me ask 1 question...

Do you say "Good Shot" when someone hits a nice one?

Or is that like giving a to a nice fight?

Just wondering:confused:

Shane is the ultimate dweeb in the game, why even bother...

the BEST 109 driver was Acid when he played often, apart from him not many could give a good challenge in a 109...

Jeff, your defination of best is lacking I think, unless you're talking about mindless furballers only, grant you Wldthing was good in the DA but he still upped a capped based(noob mistake, and promptly whined like a noob)...never fought Levi

learn to tweak and spend alot of time in DA and anyone gets good 1on1...

the best is the one that can actually BnZ, TnB, Lead and be successful...

and not many in-game players come even close to that definition...

not if i noticed his caddy picked up his ball on the fairway, cleaned it, and placed it in a perfect lie before he hit it.

So you are castigating Shane for flying around in one of the two "best" fighters... while you "swan about" in the other one?

Anyone else see the irony in that?

hey, dont take me seriously dude, im stoned and unstimulated.

i wasnt exactly denoucing shane as a deamon

my skill level is not in the same leauge as his, and to be truthfull i dont fly the spit more than 45% of my fighter time.

I fly Jugs, Hogs, 190A5/8, hurris, 110s, anything really.

I save my 'swaning' for the huge furballs and hordes.

when you can fly as well as shane i just would have thought a more challenging ride would be better for satisfaction.

shane knows i wasnt serious.

chill winston

also, i dont go round saying how good i am and how bad 99% of the MA is.

I just went by a quick glance at the kill stats, which is apparently disabled for the past two tours anyway.

It isn't an indictment of you personally.

There are two options for "success" in the MA.  You fly a Spit, so you have the ability to fight X on 1 with some kind of success, or you fly an Lgay, so you have the ability to run to create 1v1s, or your own X on 1s (which is what most people do).

Fly anything else and you are basically handicapping yourself.

I'm no golf player (I'm probably the worst).. but isn't that a golf term?  Something about how many strokes you adjust your score by to see what you'd score if you were in fact good?

Is it possible to give a "good, honest effort" while using the best possible equipment that is available to you?

Just some rather rhetorical questions.

shane is his own Public Relations Officer.

I enjoy the reparte with him in the arena as much as I enjoy shooting him down.   He is, like me, mediocre so a good fight.  He may even be slightly better than me but not enough to matter in the long run.

which is my point exactly Urchin.....

shane has a handicap btween 5 and scratch.

i have one of 40-50   lol

it *does* take honest effort from me to stay alive and kill the bad guys in the spit5, im no levi or WT.

i disagree that any other plane is a handicap, the spit is too slow, the LA7 doesnt turn as good as many others.

the 190D9: you dont die if you dont want to.

the Niki: nothing can out gun you at the same time as holding the advantage of speed and manouverabilty.

The Pony: the uber dweeb ride IMO, runs like a lala, flies better than it should. great fuel, great climb. just great.

The zero or hurricane: nothing will out turn you, easier to get kills than most in these two in a furball.

the list could go on.

essentially, any plane in the right/wrong situation can be a god send/handicap.

My only suggestion is that if you can kill anyone and anything in your favorite plane, surely its time to find a challenge.

I enjoy flying the spit, but it isnt in my list of planes that ive had good fights in.

merge-immle-HO-merge-turn-death.

thats about 20 seconds of fight.

most 'handicapped' planes ive come to like have provided fights that last well into the 1/4 hour bracket.

the spit/la7/pony/dora/niki are planes for killing MA style.

the lesser planes are for the fights we (maybe just me) live for.

Tell you what Shane... lets be fair about it.  We go out and play 9 holes, but I tell you what:  You'd better not hit any errant shots or I'll be right in your face calling you a hack, wannabe, gelding, loser.  But when we're finished, I'll reinforce how much you really do suck at golf, but I'll offer to take you to the driving range and show you tips on striking the ball.

Being that you are new to golf, and I've been playing for about 10 years now, let me ask you for a newbie point of view:  If I'm in your face every hole, laughing about every mistake you make... at the end, you gonna take up my offer to go to the range?

The question is rhetorical, cus I know the true answer.  You try to put on a good show, but these folks are wise to your soapbox BS, better put together some new material before you resume the anklehumping.

Nopoop:  You should really take a look at the ball washer on the 6th hole... you can put 4 balls in at one time, and it spins end over end  :D
