I see that too the red explosion and round shaped black smoke. My thing is they shouldnt be perfectly round.

Here is a good close up photo of bombers under actual Flak fire.
You will see what I mean
Flak at a far distance might look round but it sure doesnt closer

Hold on looking for a photo they might let me use
in the meantime look at  the photo of "An airmans nightmare" bout halfway down the page for the example I wanted to use.

here is another photo but the one in the link is a much better example

It freaked me out bigtime the first time it happened, I about jumped outta my chair. The question I have is, does it do damage? I care because I love havin the NME pop about 50 feet in front of me.

The other night in H2H I shot an enemy plane too close, and the explosion/debris killed me, as well. Another time, debris took off part of my wing, or perhaps it was just someone behind me shooting at me, can't remember now. But I remember the debris effect.

The debris sound is pretty sweet.  First time it happened I nearly jumped out of my skin. Thought I was getting cherry-picked for the hundredth time that night.

Did anyone notice this other little ditty? (maybe mentioned in thread somewhere's that I miss't)..

I had the tail shot off, and was going down, from 10k.. a long, slow, ride, backwards! ha!

So,, to kill some time, I squeezed the trigger, and ripped off a long burst, straight up.

What the heck? says I..  A stream of tinkling brass, spent casings are all fluttering up in the slip-stream!!!  WOW!

You never see it in battle (under plane)  Or at least I never did..

This sim is quickly moving from best MMOG to one of the better "Box Sims" as well!  Nice work HT!  Long ways from our days on the GEnie AW network, where planes were represented by little "T" figures in CGA 3 color 12" crts.. haahaa!

nice but from what I have read, the pilots were only able to see the red centers when the flak was right on them. They judged distance that way. You now see the red center on all bursts.

shells ejecting from planes and guns are pretty cool too as is the dust/smoke on take-off

the two engine spitV isn't bad either  :)

I've never been one of those calling for more eye-candy but I have to admit this is really cool. The flames are my favorite, I watched an enemy go down from close-up and the fire/smoke effects were simply the best I've ever seen. Next on my graphical effect wish list would be cannon strikes that were noticeably different than AP/MG strikes. The smoke puffs are cool, but I'd like to see a little red/orange bang in there too.

Oh man, now I am asking for more eye candy, what has become of me?

Eagler, what are you talking about? Are there engine options? I haven't seen 'em, if there are? or is that a tongue-in-cheek reference to the P38:p
