Ms Swii Usb Ffb ??
« on: April 15, 2003, 12:22:18 PM »
I recently moved my gaming computer from a MS XP Pro platform to a Win2K Sp3 platform and I am now gettign wierd force feedback issues with my two MS Sidewinder 2 sticks.  I can fly for either a long time or a short time with the stick behaving normally and then the stick will "loose" its full range of motion and loose the around 60% of the feedback.  Example: I will be in a turn fight with my yak and whatever this is happens and all of a sudden I cannot turn seem to get full elevator control or aileron control.  Usually I end up kissing the dirt since I can't get the nose up [note this is note compression -- I lawndart plenty with the LW planes to know what that feels like ].

The problem will stay until I exit game and re-enter game.  The Win2k Gaming Devices -> Properties test works fine when I validate forces, but the Calibrate stick in AH doesn't seem to "reset" the stick.

Any pointers to new drivers, or potential other issues is appreciated.

System is:
  AMD 2000+, 512 MB RAM
  ASUS A7N8x Dlx mobo
Win2K with SP3 and "latest" recommended security patches as of 3/20/03

Please let me know what other information would be useful to assist in troubleshooting the problem.

Thanks.

PS: if this should be in the HW/SW forum, just say the word.

I also have a MS PPro FF 2 Schtick...  Just got and installed a new MoBo & CPU...

Mine loses Force Feedback during flight and doesn't return until I close AH2... Stick still functions normally, just no FFB.  It didn't have this problem on my other MoBo, & this only happens in AH.  The FFB returns immediately when I close down AH2.  Thoughts?

My system specs:
Athlon 64 3400+ - 939 Chipset
nVidia 6600 GT, 128Meg DDR3
512Meg PC3200 CAS2 DDR
MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum MoBo
WinXP Pro, SP2, DX 9.0c
