Knife confiscated, letter sent home.  This is a more appropriate response than the "Zero Tolerance" policies that alot of schools have been implementing.

"zero tolerance" usually just means "we don't want to have to stand up for our stupid decisions so we'll just blame the policy instead"

How much did box cutters circa August '01 cost?

Try using box cutters to hijack an airplane nowdays and I think the would-be hijackers would very quickly discover its limitations as a weapon.

why wouldn't box cutters work anymore?  What has changed?   Did they make boxcutters illegal to take on planes?

Recently had one of my grandsons get sent home and expelled at age 9 .
He and another kid were playing at recess. He had taken his batteries out of his Gameboy and had them in his pocket. Another kid that was playing with him had some string. They were playing Army as kids will and have forever. They decided they could make a cool "bomb" by tieing the batteries up with the string. A little girl had came by while they were discussing the making of this fearsome "bomb". She reported them to the teacher. They were expelled for 'Terrorist like activites". Give me a fuggin break!
The same week this happened one of the school bus drivers that had became known for his use of crack and was trying to be gotten from behind wheel by a number of parents pulled the ultimate. After school, with a busload of kids, he stopped the bus and screamed at them that if they didn`t get quiet he was going to crash the bus , kill himself and take all of them with him. This was reported by 10 or so parents. The school`s reaction to this???? They stated that they didn`t have any evidence of this happening.
Something wrong with this picture?
